I-732 I guess we get ta say yes or no on some taxs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

So explain this to me in plain english....Its unconstitutional for me to vote yea or nay on tax increases, but when the legislature wants political cover, and won't make the tough choice and pay teachers what their worth, and I'm sure we will need a tax increase to pay for it, since I didn't see how they were going to fund these never ending pay increases...now they want my say so....again make a decision, and reap the consequences....or let me have the say so every time...I'm voting no, the ball is back in their court...make a decision...!

So can you explain to me the difference between your opposition to the teacher pay initiative and your support of the traffic initiative? If you want to force the legislature to make the tough choice in paying teachers, why do you support removing their choice in deciding how to allocate transportation funds? They seem to me to have the same basic principle.

And if anyone wonders, I'm voting against the teacher pay initative as well as I-745.

I'm voting FOR the teacher pay initiative, as well as FOR I-745.

No one should have their pay increases guaranteed by law. In fact, the use of the initiative to pass these poorly thought out ideas is just bad practice and in most cases produces bad law. I am voting against all the initiatives. Take the ideas to the Legislature and make your case before the elected representatives, where they can debate the issue and craft something that works.

amazingly enough, I find myself in agreement with dbvz on the teacher pay, where is the insentive for the " good " teachers if everyone automatically gets a raise..?I-745 I'll vote for reluctantly, for a couple reasons, mainly to keep the preasure on Olympia, also because I do not support the state ferry system, and the latest rail system sounds like an even bigger boondogle....
