For fun: What do you do to adorn yourself???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I thought it might be time for a fun break, since our postings are getting pretty serious again.

We have talked about makeup and clothes before, as well as that entertaining one about what we had in our pockets. Maybe some of you will share what you do to decorate yourself! Or do you prefer yourself au naturel? I am not talking about makeup this time, but add it if you feel like it. Do you wear your hair differently, wear jewelry, have tatoos, piercings, handlebar mustaches, ponytails, goatees or ?

I'll go first since I started this. I have a hair wrap with some silver sheep charms on the end of it. I like to wear a lot of silver bracelets and necklaces at the same time (none are expensive...just stuff I've picked up in the Southwest over the years.) I always wear a gold cross on a chain around my neck. I have a plain wristwatch. I only have one hole in each ear for earrings and I almost always wear the same silver hoops. I don't have any tattoos or piercing. My hair is long and straight and I like to wear jeans. This time of year I tend to wear a lot of turtlenecks. I usually wear leather/Goretex boots. Oh yeah, and I wear spectacles!

And you?

I have been using nail polish lately because I mashed one of my fingernails in the garage door and it has a big black spot on it. I wear my hair short and don't wear much jewelry, just a small pair of earrings and my wedding ring. My Dad has made some sterling silver rings so I wear one of them sometimes. Don't dress up much, jeans and embroideried denim shirts, except at our son's recent wedding. I also like to wear my grandmothers wedding band when I am feeling nostalgic. I go coon hunting with my husband so that means old clothes and rubber boots, and warm socks in the winter! Mona Lea

hi! I'm just a very approachable-looking person; jeans, (even when I wear dresses, it's jean skirts,) shirts/sweaters with neck lines...can't handle turtle necks; things touching my neck like that make me feel like I'm choking. Like yourself i love to wear large hoop earrings, light make-up, I love to wear scents such as lavender, patchouli. I'm very particular to having nicely shaped brows (ok, everyone's gotta have their thing, right?:) )

-- Beth Weber (talmidim88@hotmail.com), October 27, 2000.

Oh my. I like plain bluejeans, plain T-shirts (no writing or anything on them) Won't wear red or pink anything. Plain simple dresses for church (I don't like to wear dresses, never did!) Sometimes I wear my good Wranglers and boots with a dress Western shirt and vest to church, no one cares. I don't wear any make-up at all, never did. My one thing I like is Oil of Olay (it can help you look younger too!) Hair is short with bangs. When my hair starts to get long, I cut it off myself. Only jewlery is my wedding band. No watch, no nothing, and no tatoos. I may be boring, but I am still cute!! Steve says I look like Sally Fields, what can I say, He loves me and he HAS to say nice things!

-- Cindy in Ky (solidrockranch@msn.com), October 27, 2000.

Thanks for the lighter side of life.....I wear mostly jeans, shorts and T shirts or sweaters. I wear for jewelry, my plain gold band wedding ring. I do like to paint my toenails, but don't do it very often. My favorite luxury is pj's and nightgowns.....flannel, velour, and silk. I don't wear makeup very often, more because I am lazy or forget.

-- Carleen (netorcs@mo-net.com), October 27, 2000.

Don't care much for jewlery, except cameos and my grandma's necklace. It's a good thing though because of the chemical poisoning, can't wear it. We didn't have the money for wedding rings when we got married almost 14 years ago. Can't wear one anyway. Don't like wristwatches. Otherwise I'm mostly plain. I have long shiny brown hair, except for the white that's sneaking in. I put it back or up depending on what I'm doing. I wear wire-rims. Denim skirts or jeans or sweats. I don't like anything around my neck and I like my sleeves rolled up. Shoes-only when necessary.

-- Cindy (atilrthehony_1@yahoo.com), October 27, 2000.

I like to wear Tshirts or sweatshirts depending on the weather with jeans. Sneakers or workboots. Every Christmas my husband buys me more useful clothes. I wear three earings: one birthstone (tree ripped the other one out of my ear in the woods), one horseshoe (that is always upside down) and a dragon. Watch and magnetic bracelet. If I go out, I'll wear blush, neutural eyeshadow, and liner pencil. (friend once commented that I'd look prettier if I wore makeup. I figured I'm already married, who cares) My hair is still "feathered" and I cut it myself. I had one of those Glamor pictures taken a few years back. Boy, did I look georgous!

-- Dee (gdgtur@goes.com), October 27, 2000.

I go from one extreme to the other, I am a country girl at heart and most of the time I am barefoot, tee shirt streach pants or shorts no make up, hair not fixed, (I don't work outside the home). But when I want to I can really put on the ritz, I have shoulder length hair naturally highighted with gray it is parted on the side and layered, I wear glasses when I read, wedding ring large earrings when I dress up and wrist watch. I'm not much into jewelry but have costume jewelry I wear when I go out. I like to wear lipstick wheather I have makeup on or not and always keep my toes polished.

-- Ronya Hammonds (surenuffbusted@juno.com), October 27, 2000.

11 piercings, 2 full sleeves, 6 other tattoos. Rings on my fingers and Bells on my toes! Very, very, very, cheap clothes!

-- One never Knows (guesswho@noplace.com), October 27, 2000.

Waist-length medium blonde hair, straight as a poker (not bottle blonde) - usually worn in a french braid, decorated with any one of a number of scrunchies. Cut shorter in the front, feathered back (curling iron and lotsa hairspray) (I cut the front, hubby cuts the back). Jeans, t-shirts, flannel shirts, sneakers/workboots/muckboots...dressup is tighter jeans, nicer shirt, cowboy boots and hat, and lotsa silver jewelry. Rarely dresses and heels. Mascara, blush and colored chapstick. Partial to a turquoise poncho (with a variety of other colors through) when going out in cool weather.

-- Judi (decaro@snet.net), October 27, 2000.

In high school and for a few years after, I was really big into 'punk' Purple and pink hair, dog collar necklace, lots of chains, saftypin earrings, LOTS of makeup, black eye shadow, dark red blush, and white lipstick. My clothes were all black. Almost all of the money I made went toword clothes and makeup. Then I met , and married my husband. Now my hair is it's natural dark brown and I wear it long and straight. If I wear makeup it's only alittle pail colored lipstick. ( and that's only on very special occasions.) I live in jeans , t-shirts, and tennis shoes. the only jewelry I wear is my wedding bands, and a terquios ring that was my Grandmothers, a pair of opal earings my Hubby bought me for Mothers day a few years ago ( got them at a pawn shop for like 10.00 ). I guess you can say I went from one extreme to the other.

-- sherry (Calfarm@msn.com), October 27, 2000.

I feel naked if I don't have in earrings. Don't like bracelets, watches or necklaces. Don't wear my wedding ring. I have 5 tattoos (so far) and my tongue pierced. Had a "set" of piercings, but they grew closed when I didn't get the rings back in time after a surgery. Won't ever get those pierced again as it was pretty painful. Well, maybe eventually. I'd love to get a full body tattoo, but they're expensive to do right, and not really a priority right now. LOL If I could lose about 15 pounds, I might get my bellybutton pierced. Want to get my tongue pierced a second time. Still trying to talk my husband around to it, although he knows I'll do it anyway. LOL I'm cold most of the time, so wear long sleeved shirts and blouses and blue jeans at home. My job requires professional dress, so I wear lots of skirts and slacks to work with nice blouses--love silk. I only shop at Value Village or Goodwill. Styles change too quickly for me to concern myself with them. I figure if I'm comfortable in my clothing, it will look good on me.

-- Amber (mikeandamberq@hotmail.com), October 27, 2000.

Speaking of tattoos Did anyone happen to see the tv show about the women with double masectomies? They showed the ladies from the waist up with beautiful tattoos they had done on their chests!! They were absolutly gorgeous! Sorry to interupt.......Kirk....P.S. The only thing that helps me look better is sitting between Barbara and my cat!!!

-- Kirk Davis (kirkay@yahoo.com), October 27, 2000.

gret thred! i like pictureing you all more clearly! me,i'm a 38 yr old rural redneck/hippie cross of celtic/viking/african descent :) 5'3' 200 lbs. i sew most of my own clothes because i don't like to support sweatshops and all the plus-size clothes are ugly or expensive. my mom says i dress like a thrift-store explosion... layers of funky shirts and skirts, longjohns underneath now. no bras or underwear. three 12 gauge steel CBR piercings in each lobe, CBR nostril piercing, 13 tAttoos including forearm floral sleeves. my skin is very white but my nose and lips are broad and i "sound black" !. my hair is waist length wavy dark red with big grey streaks. i always wear one heavy turquoise silver navajo bracelet, my silver wedding ring and a custom silver ring depicting mushrooms. for dress-up i go with lots more silver and trade the cotton and wool for velvet and rayon. i adore hats: cloche, beret, toque, bandannas, but NOT cowperson hats. i like prairie sunbonnets too in the summer. my feet are very wide so i wear birkenstock shoes in the winter, birky sandals in the summer. i have a friend who knits wool socks for me. i like to darn socks. i also have a pair of buffalohide knee-high moccasins with silver concha buttons made for me by another friend. no makeup. amber and patchouli for scents. i like autumnal colors and heathery purples and greens and oldfashioned florals and calico. i also wear wire-rim spectacles the old kind that loop behind your ear. never fall off. for grungy farm chores i wear Key overalls and flannel shirts and bind my hair in a long braid. keep this thread going, this is fun!

-- juno redleaf (gofish@presys.com), October 27, 2000.

Boy, you guys are alot of fun! I'm the epitome of boring. No jewelry (not even my wedding ring)no perfume, long straight red hair. Dress in plain jeans and plainer shirts, but I do wear a bit of makeup when I leave the house. I am, however, planning on getting a tattoo! Im doing it for my kids, so I can give them the "see it's not a big deal, you can wait till you're 30 and get one then if you still want one" lecture.

-- Julie (julieamc@excite.com), October 27, 2000.

This is a nice break from the serious stuff! That and the 3 bushels of pears I have finally finished!! yea!! You would normally find me in blue jeans, flannels, etc.. when I'm home, even overalls at times...they are sooo comfortable. On the other hand, I love being a woman, with all that entails. So when I get the chance I do the dress, heels, etc.. I have blond hair, fairly long, usually bunched up on top of my head, but seldom stays where I want it! I wear it down for our "out of the house" times! Not much jewerly, no tattoos, etc.. I am as comfortable in my jeans & workboots as I am "decked" out. Can't say I actually have any special ways I "decorate", just enjoy the times I get to be feminine! he-he! God Bless! Wendy

-- Wendy@GraceAcres (wjl7@hotmail.com), October 27, 2000.

Wow, some of you are pretty funky HUH!! Never would have guessed it on a homesteader forum. O.K. here's me and I'm in the process of changing a little, around the house it's NO makeup, jeans or shorts, cotton T's with not pictures or writing on the front ( they get scratchy) and teeny shoes or flip flops,no jewerly or even my wedding rings around the house cause I either get dirt, goat poop, or bread dough in the rings and I only wear a bra till after supper, then it gets to tight and has to come off. Now when I just go to town for a few errands I wear a light coat of base makeup, a little blush, and lipstick, used to wear mascara till my alergies got so bad and can't anymore. I wear my wedding ring, maybe earings, nothing around my neck as most jewelery bothers me, never been crazy about makeup or jewelery. I'll wear jeans, or a jean jumper and a simple blouse and my good teeny shoes (without the goat poop) I'm trying to let my brown hair with lots of grey grow out now, so it's pushed back a lot with hairspray to hold it in place or a headband to keep it out of my eyes. Now if dh is taking me out to dinner (rare occasion) I'll try tp spruce up a little more with my current perfume Vanilla Fields and maybe slacks or a dress and still simple makeup and maybe a necklace to dress up a little more, maybe a casual dress or slacks and some flat loafers. I don't have any tatoos and only 1 hole in each ear. Funny thing is as soon as I get home all this stuff comes off and the T-shirt, shorts, or jeans come one, I have town clothes and home clothes. I'm in the process of trying to simplfy my life in every aspect including my person, so I'm letting my hair grow out from a frosted, med length, layered cut and got rid of a lot of clothes. I live pretty simple anyway compared to my sisters but I'm still striving to do more.

-- Carol (cwaldrop@peoplescom.net), October 28, 2000.

Gee, all the way down here no one will see me! I dress like a slob most of the time out of necessity--torn up jeans or sweats, run over shoes, no jewelery. This is because I own a small used car and utility trailer business and I found out early on if I wore good jeans and shirts and stuff to work, they'd get torn up immediately. I don't wear much if any jewelery because I don't want it to get caught on anything. I clean up pretty well, though. I have a small tattoo of a red rose on my upper chest, NOT on my cleavage though, sort of between my collar bone and my cleavage. It's small and doesn't show; my little secret. I have long chestnut colored hair that has a mind of it's own, so I wear it layered so it looks crazy on purpose, blue eyes and very pale skin with some light freckles. I wear makeup about half of the time, the other half of the time it gets sweated off. I also am a fanatic about having perfectly arched brows--don't know why. I have sort of muscular, masculine arms from doing so much heavy work, so I like to wear 3/4 sleeves a lot so I can hide my Popeye arms.

-- Hannah Maria Holly (hannahholly@hotmail.com), October 28, 2000.

Yes, it is nice to be able to "picture" others, isn't it?

I'm short and overweight (never mind how much) and in my late 40's. Have long (26" -- I measured the other day) auburn hair with scattered greys (that I obliterate periodically with henna). It's mostly straight due to the weight, but has some natural wave -- mostly shows up in "frizzies". Got hazel eyes and wear glasses for nearsightedness (and would be bifocals if I would give in and get some).

I wear comfy clothes, lots of knits (T shirts, sweatshirts, etc.), including jeans -- the oldest for doing chores and around the house, the better stuff if I have to go on errands, and save the best stuff for special occasions (also the only time I ever were skirts and not always, even then). Don't like tight, restrictive clothing. Turtle necks look just awful on me -- my neck's too short. I do have some mock turtles for the coldest weather and winter barn work, but I prefer a couple buttons that can be left open or done up as needed. My favorite color is green, with teal not far behind.

Rarely wear make-up any more, just too much hassle. Have pierced ears (only one hole each) but don't wear earrings often anymore. My birds think they make great play toys, but I don't agree (OUCH!) Almost always wear walking shoes or hiking boots-type footwear, because I need orthotics to support my very high arches. Used to wear moccasins or flip flops or go barefoot.

Always wear my watch (except to bed), other jewelry mostly for going out -- earrings and necklaces/pendants. I like unusual and/or funky jewelry. Rarely wear perfume -- unless they are made from genuine floral oils, I can smell the chemicals/synthetics, and I think they stink -- both on me and on others. Also am around people with chemical sensitivities and allergies frequently, so avoid on that account too. I do like to use essential oils for their therapeutic benefits, but that's mostly at home.

I don't care what is in style or fashion. If it looks good on me, it's in fashion, IMO. My criteria for a winter coat (still looking right now, old one has been relegated to barn work) is ease of movement in it and across the car seats, easily accessed pockets, nothing extraneous to get caught on things, easy care (washable), etc. in a color that looks good on me.

-- Joy Froelich (dragnfly@chorus.net), October 28, 2000.

boy this is fun....i wear jeans and more jeans do not think i own a dress i could still fit into. shoes are an option but i really hate them,i also wear plain tee shirts though my hubby got me a really cute one that says"who are all these kids and why are they calling me mom?"Sweat shirts in the fall and i really love those polartec socks for the winter.i have longish hair{tried it short last year Big mistake} i have my ears pierced alot but i dont wear earrings ,the babies pull them out,and my nose is pierced no ring due to the babies. i would love a tattoo but i just cant convince myself to do it.I will never be caught in a bathing suit anymore {again the babies changed that!} No makeup ,i donot even know how to put it on! no scents cant stand them,my hair was brown now its turning grey, i wont get it dyed, i deseve it{the babies again}.I would love to lose more weight about 20lbs.but i am happy w/ myself. kinda boreing but its me!

-- renee oneill (oneillsr@home.com), October 28, 2000.

Boy, this is fun Sheepish. Great idea. I'm in my early 40's, have below the shoulder dark brown hair, (that's got a little premature gray ones in it! hee hee), finally got the hair to all one length because it's easier to pull back, which I do alot. Got my ears pierced a long long time ago. Don't hardly ever wear earrings anymore, my wedding band is all. Am almost always in my work boots because they are so comfortable and they have a great sole that keeps me on my feet on these hills. Learned that lesson the hard way. Kept slipping and ending up on my rear side! Don't have any tattos. Dress up when we go out, which is very seldom. So, I'm always in my jeans, t-shirt or sweat shirt. Paint my toenails if I ever get the time, but gardening keeps my fingernails very short. Can't tolerate the feeling of getting dirt under my nails and I can't get used to gloves. Very seldom wear make-up. Having to wear my glasses alot more lately. (think they're making the print smaller on things!!!)

-- Annie (mistletoe@earthlink.net), October 28, 2000.

Gosh. I've gone through a lot of changes. There was the jeans/boots/western shirt phase, followed by the preppy blazer/chinos/loafer phase, then the ton of make-up dark colored suit phase. At 34 I went back to college full-time, kept the make-up, nails and jewelry, and dressed "classy". I guess I had to try on a variety of persona to find out who I really was/am. Now, I'm the tie-dye queen! Actually, I make and sell tie-dye clothing, and wearing the stuff is great free advertising. I'm exactly what you'd expect to find working in a healthfood store....waist length, wavy brown hair, either a tie-dye T shirt over a long skirt or leggings, or a long tie-dye dress. Gold hoop earrings, no makeup or nail polish, usually sandles or wool clogs. I look like a hippie, and that's pretty much OK with me. No scent, it bothers too many customers. (If I could get away without wearing a bra, I would, but...) At home, I wear T shirts and sweatpants. Slippers are a must, with all these dogs and cats. I love essential oils, especially lavender. This was fun, sheepish!

-- Cathy Horn (hrnofplnty@webtv.net), October 28, 2000.

I am sure enjoying this! I can't believe I forgot to mention my wedding ring! Sheesh. I have a plain-ish one, three colors of gold, looped together. No diamonds or anything. It never comes off, so I guess I just thought it was part of me. (ahem!) I also wear a whole bunch of silver rings (more Southwest stuff). Hope to hear more! What a colorful flock we are!

-- sheepish (rborgo@gte.net), October 28, 2000.

I, of course, am the slob. Dress up for me is usually making sure I've got my clothes on right side out. The few times a year that I have to really dress up get a little hysterical as we churn through the house looking for things like pantyhose, bra, presentable shoes, etc. Then I'll gouge my eyeballs out with the mascara wand and out the door we go. Blah. Gerbil

-- Gerbil (ima_gerbil@hotmail.com), October 28, 2000.

Gerbil, he-he, he-he, ha! I am laughing outloud, its kinda hard to get that across this computer, but wanted to you to know!! He-He!! God Bless! Wendy

-- Wendy@GraceAcres (wjl7@hotmail.com), October 28, 2000.

This is fun and I am surprised to see so many "funky" things (body piercing and tatoos) from people on this forum. I guess I shouldn't though since homesteaders are usually "their own" person and don't go along with styles - not afraid to think for themselves. Maybe because of that, we don't fit into the norm. This bothered me for a long time til I finally learned it is something to be proud of. As for me, I'm in my late 50's so I'm not into the body piercing or tatoos. I'm 4' 11" - actually I've shrunk in height with my back problems. I won't tell how much I weigh, but suffice to say it is too much! I wear very little makeup or jewelry, I'm pretty plain. I have blonde hair which is bottle blonde now as someone mentioned above, to cover the grey! I used to be a natural blonde probably because of my Scandinavian heritage. Also have some light freckles - beauty spots! The only jewelry I wear is a plain gold wedding band and sometimes to church I wear a gold cross on a gold chain. I have pierced ears but haven't worn earrings in so long probably couldn't now. I don't wear makeup at all except when I go to church I sometimes put on a pale lipstick and a very small amount of eye shadow. I don't wear perfumes, can't stand the smell. Around the house I wear old jeans or cheap KMart pants. I have "dress" jeans I wear to go shopping, which isn't too often, or to run errands. In the summer, I wear Tshirts, winter, flannel shirts or sweat shirts. I like comfort! I wear slippers around the house and loafers for shopping and dress flats for church. Very seldom wear heels. My hair is naturally curly so I wear it short. Would love to be able to wear it long - I've tried - but it is so thick and just hard to do anything with when it is long. It is layered and I usually let it get a little longer in the winter. Most of the time I cut it myself but occasionally I treat myself to a professional cut. Usually after I've cut it so many times, it's really gotten out of shape! I seldom wear dresses, mostly skirts for the few times I dress up. I make the skirts and some dress slacks but most of the rest of my clothing comes either from KMart (on sale of course) or the Goodwill store. Boy can you get some great buys at Goodwill and also the Salvation Army Store. The look I like is plain and natural and comfortable. Going to have to check into those overalls! Seems like they would be a lot of trouble when nature calls though! Enough, probably too much, about me. Hope to hear about some more of you Countrysiders!

-- bwilliams (bjconthefarm@yahoo.com), October 28, 2000.

Guess I'll add my two bits worth! I'm 43, medium-short and overweight, but happy that I've lost about twenty-five pounds. Still have a ways to go, but it's coming off! Short curly brown hair (with some gray starting to come in) that I'm letting grow back out, because it goes where it wants to even with mousse and hairspray, and I can control it better when it's long enough to put up. I'm with the rest of you in mostly wearing jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts -- also turtlenecks and long-sleeved flannel shirts at this time of the year. I do wear dresses to church, nothing fancy, but don't wear jewelry much. Hubby and I both lost our wedding rings years ago, and never could afford to replace them, so don't even have that. A plain cheap watch, once in a while a necklace when I put on a dress for church, and that's about it. Can't wear perfume, and I feel about like Gerbil when it comes to putting on makeup!! :-) I have imitation birkenstock sandals that I wear all summer, and for slippers in the winter (maybe someday I will break down and spend the money for a real pair!). Sneakers, Sorels, and hiking boots are most of the rest of my footwear. When my hair is long enough sometimes I wear plain brown barrettes, but I found that they give me headaches, so may just chuck them all. Oh, yes, and I wear glasses, too -- can't see without them, so tend to forget they are there. Pretty ordinary stuff! (No tattoos here, though!)

-- Kathleen Sanderson (stonycft@worldpath.net), October 28, 2000.

Neat thread! Add me to the long, straight dark hair group. No make-up unless its really dressy. I have one set of earrings that I leave in all the time. They cost more than $1.99 and I figured that if they were in my ears I couldn't lose them. Casual dresses or skirts all the time. I find them more comfortable than anything else(except my robe and I can't go out in that!) No shoes at home and clogs in public. I can take them off faster. I think that I'm too casual sometime because if I do anything with my hair, put on chapstick or touch the perfume spray, the kids go running for shoes and start asking where we are going.

-- Barbara Ternes (lbfarm@hit.net), October 28, 2000.

sheepish, this is great, glad you started this. I have something else to ask everyone & will begin another thread with that subject. I'm also short & round, just lost a few pounds & don't want to find them again. Wear spectacles, no jewelry, not even my wedding rings, they kept tearing thru the latex gloves at work-so I've gotten out of the habit of wearing them, have below the shoulder length hair, light brown with some gray thrown in, wear mostly dresses and jumpers with tees underneath, these I sew myself, don't care for the stuff in the stores. During the summer, mostly barefoot, except when around the animals then I wear old sneakers or boots. Won't find a tatoo on me, had a patient whose tatoo turned nasty, she almost died from the infection. Now that colder weather is coming along, the turtlenecks are coming out of storage. And no makeup.

-- Phyllis (almostafarm@yahoo.com), October 28, 2000.

Barbara - I know what you mean about the kids! This is fun! I'm another one with long, straight brown hair but I do have lot's of gray in the front. Usually it's pulled up in a ponytail. I got tired of fussing with clothes a while back so I kind of have a "uniform" now - denim jumper, t-shirt, keds, fleece jacket, although I do wear jeans, too. Around the house I wear those cheap aqua socks for better footing on the steep basement stairs & easy on & off. I do wear dresses to church and a little jewelry. I use a tinted moisturizer& tinted chapstick daily adding mascara when I dress up. The main thing is I want to be comfortable! I also want to be thin! (sigh)

-- Jean (schiszik@tbcnet.com), October 28, 2000.

Well, I am pretty new here, but love the forum...I like getting dressed up once in awhile, but I could'nt do it everyday. I usually wear blue jeans and baggy Tshirt, I am a little to large for my frame and try to hide them. My husband loves long hair, so I only trim. I love the beginning of deer season getting dressed in hunting clothes. But I don't like walking for hours in it. Oh, and I love my long johns and big elmo slippers (they are neon orange)

-- Judy (allsmile@ctnet.net), October 28, 2000.

Jeans kind of gal, no jewelry though I couldn't live without a watch, I have never a clue the date to write checks! I have very short hair, though I actually moved to the woods with waist length hair. I have 5 holes in each ear, though only wear all of them when I want some shock value, will wear some earrings for nice, makeup also, in fact when I do get dressed up most folks look twice before recognising me. Vice's are nice undie things, nighty things fake nails when not milking, and always good shoes. Got a tatto to match husbands when I turned 40. My best adornment came from God with a port wine stain birth mark down my neck, had most of it removed as a young adult working for a dermatologist, left me with whats left looking like a hickey. It is the oddest conversation piece folks always given me the look, now that we are in our 40's you would think folks would figure this out. But no at least once a week someone says something! My answers always depend on my mood, from "its my birthmark" to "my husband is very passionate!" The rudest comment I have ever heard was "why didn't he just piss on your leg to mark his territory!" Whatever!!! Vicki

-- Vicki McGaugh TX (vickilonesomedoe@hotmail.com), October 28, 2000.

Well Well Judy, seems to me you have very large boobs, and you want to hide them? Why? Be proud of what you have honey. Flaunt them, lol Me? Well i'm 5'4 and weigh well we'll skip that one lol anyway i have strawberry blonde hair and yes BIG BOOBS too. I wear jeans and tshirts alot or whatever is comfortable to me. oh and i have elmo slippers too except they are not neon orange but a bright red.

-- Paco (epaco13@excite.com), October 28, 2000.

I wear as little as I can get away with in summer- it's stinking hot here.I'd go nekked if I wasn't too reserved for that, And, as much as I can layer on in winter cause I get creaky if I get cold.

At home I'm lucky to get out of my jammies, but if I do,it's old raggedy stuff that goes on,bc, hey I've got lots of work to do. To see me you'd think I hadn't a pot to pee in.

But I clean up good, as well. Was taught to present oneself well in public. So then, I wear alot of dresses, bc they're well...... you know, breezy and like I said it's hot here. But only long ones bc I don't want to shave!! Gave up jeans, too confining, now it's sweats or dresses.

No makeup-hate the stuff.Ditto perfume, allergic - Little jewelry-but I like old brooches and things like spice, shell, bead necklaces. Short hair now bc I have no patience for fussing with it and it was too thick & too hot.Glasses since I was a kid.Dirty fingernails are my trademark, for I am a gardening nut. Tall, long legged, very lightskinned, inherited big butt.Used to be lean & strong but now it's a decidedly middle aged body, complete with expected complaints. But my spirit still has alot of milege left.

Sheepish this is so good--thanks for starting it!

This is Sonda in Ks. & I'm over 50--tall & use to model & do platform work/ cosmetologist/ image consultant/ antique dealer/ etc.--now I still deal in antiques--but the businesses I've had over the years-- I'm usually the one with the latest hair style--latest trend--& I still can clean up pretty good!

I love goddy jewls!!! You very seldom see me without huge ear rings! I wear bright colors & my favorite store is called, Dressing Goddy!"

I wear a lot of tall boots & hats. At home it is usually jeans & t- shirts & flannel shirts. But when I dress up --I dress up!!!!!

I have chemical poisioning so no perfume or make up or hair color, anymore. I usually wear my hair REAL short--& spiked in the summer. Right now it has grown enough to curl it with the smallest curling iron.

All my clothes are bright or wild--except for my basic black really dress up clothes. I have a lot of clothes & shoes & jewlry. And since I can't wear make up, my eyebrows have to be arched perfect, also!

All my friends say, I dress so bright, that if they can't see me comming, they can hear me LAUGHING!!! And I'm getting use to wearing glasses! Most of the time, they are on top of my head!

I'm a rather out going person!! Haven't met a stranger-- & love life & my family!!! I'm not a quiet/ no comment person!! What ever is going on , I'm usually in the middle of it!(it just takes me longier to get there now! ha) Sonda in Ks.

Hi sheepish! This has been a good read. I wear the standard uniform. Jeans and sweaters through the day. I started feeling a little bad about not minding my appearance (when hubby and I met I was a model) so I try to dress after dinner in something "a little more comfortable" - my sister gave me some kimono type wraps from Mexico or Cuba or somewhere south. They fit the bill and are still real comfy. As for jewelry 2 rings and small hoops in ears all gold. Would love to wear silver but looks atrocious with red hair - I wear that medium length bob. I wear a very little make-up, but would feel absolutely naked without my perfume, Oscar de la Renta's "Volupte". We all have to have our indulgences and the goats really seem to like it!

This looks like just as good a place as any to introduce one's self:

IMO, I think some of those answers were made up! ;-) Anyway, I'm 36yo, 5'6", about 145 and still trying to shed some pounds from the 3rd baby almost 6 years ago. Brown shoulder length hair that hubby wishes was a lot longer. I've had some greys mixed in for the last 10 years, more showed up with each child.

Jeans and t-shirts for the summer. But...I long for fall/winter when I can pull out my sweaters. I grew up in Florida where we could maybe wear sweater for 2 or 3 months out of the years. Now, in Maryland I get to wear them for almost 6 months. Dresses for church. Jewelry depending on mood...preppy sometimes, artistic other times. I wear a Winnie-ther-Pooh watch that shows Pooh in his "thinking pose". That about sums me up. Oh yeah, I like to wear straw hats in the summer. Even to church. I decided that I'm going to wear what I like to wear.

Forgot to add this: I'm a little teapot short and stout! Actually more like a block of wood with BOOBS, Yes I belong to the big boob club also, 5'3 ____lbs and now have to wear my glasses full time, Doc sd next year it would be bifocals

-- Carol (cwaldrop@peoplescom.net), October 29, 2000.

I think clothing must be FIRST of all comfortable. Life is too short to spend it trying to impress someone else. So I am who I am. I wear only natural fibers, cotton mostly. I hate polyester anything. Can't stand anything too tight. Mostly denim, either jeans, overalls or a denim jumper. Always with a t-shirt.I dress really plainly. Hardly ever wear make-up, maybe for a very special occasion. My hubby doesn't mind, he knows I am a free spirit. Don't even own a piece of jewelry not even a watch. Tried to dress up once and felt very silly because it just wasn't me. I love to work in my garden a lot and love to get dirty. I am known either as "the garden lady" or "the candle lady". I have a scented candle business so I get tired of smelling those sweet scents. So, I never wear perfume. I also agree with someone earlier who said that the bra must go by evening. I never wear shoes in the house.Wear wire rim glasses. Comfort is everything.

We went to a play last night (like a real date!) and after reading the posts here, I thought I would put on some makeup (and chuckling the whole time, especially after reading Gerbil's experience with the mascara wand!!!) I think it's been something like 18 months since I wore any makeup at all.

I put on foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, eye pencil, mascara, and lipstick (two colors/layers). Now mind you, I have a lot of experience doing this, having worn the white lab coat at those cosmetic counters in lovely department/specialty stores, albeit a long time ago. I even used to do makeovers on customers!! (victims!! LOL)

Anyway, I got done, looked at the final product in the mirror, and I just about shrieked!!! I looked okay, but forgot about how "altered" I would look and had to stare at myself for the longest time to try and figure out what was so different. The effect was satisfactory, but I can tell you it will probably be another 18 months (or more) before I do this again!! What a hassle! I also wore some fragrance (hardly ever do that since I'm around so many people who seem to object to smelling it, even if worn lightly....I wish smokers would please consider that around me!).

Yeah, my husband thought I was worth looking at in the light so he took me out afterward. So, maybe we'll have to have another date in oh, another 18 months! Better replace my mascara way before then!

Seriously, thanks for your posts! I love "picturing" you all!

-- sheepish (rborgo@gte.net), October 29, 2000.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to tell you all that I have found a GREAT, natural hair dye that doesn't smell for all of you with chemical problems. It covers the grey and looks so natural that even my natural highlights are there. When I do a touch up, I use only 2 capfuls from both bottles and brush it though. The product is called Herbatint. It is made in Italy and sold in health food stores.

Oh, I forgot. The best is when I go bearfoot, not barefoot, bearfoot. I have these really comfortable bear slippers with fur and toenails. They were given to me as a joke but I love them.

Hey Sheepish! Kirk answered so rekon I can too. I'm just an ordinary old hillbilly from Illinois. The most pronounced part of my anatomy is my big feet! How about 14's? People put a better foundation under a courthouse than an outhouse! To look real purty I shave, comb my hair and put on my new, white Voit tenny runners! Now that y'all know jest how purty I'm--Lil dumplin an me---we be mates-for over 30 yars! I stills luv'r. We's a rite smart cuple--all my BLACK hair and her purty RED hair! Hello again everyone-it's been a long time!!I sure am glad I popped on this thread;it's been such an interesting read!!!Guess I'll join in too.

Well,my best feature is probably my hair(fine in texture, thick, slightly wavy, all one length(nearly waist length),dark golden strawberry blonde),BUT I almost always wear it in a french twist or a big topknot.I often wonder why I like my hair long when I rarely wear it down.Oh well... Sometimes I wear a pretty locket- other than that no jewelry. I use a touch of mascara and eyeliner now and again(brown)on my eyes.My eyes:clear golden green.I've tried eyeshadow but browns make me look tired and purples(recommended for green eyes often)make me look ghastly imho-so I don't usually wear shadow. My skin is pale ivory, and my cheeks are slightly rosy,so I can usually get by without foundation or blush. I will wear a small amount of color on my lips(something rosy usu.and mostly blotted off).

I do not wear rings or bracelets because I do not like to call attention to my hands(my worst feature!!!They are entirely too large!). I love to wear colors such as coral, peach, butter yellow, also fall colors-beautiful golds, rusts etc.Color is probably what I love most in an outfit!I like my shirts long because my weight isn't near what it should be![I'm working on losing it because I do not want to look like an overstuffed sausage at my brothers wedding (I'm one of the bridesmaids.).] Anyways,I'm not in the least particular about shoes-I'd rather be without them-as long as they don't have pointy toes and are fairly comfortable... I would love to learn to style my hair in some of the elaborate victorian fashions -just for the fun of it-of course I'd love to be costumed out Victorian style for fun too.Or perhaps I'd like to wear something like the ancient Egyptians(Not referring to Halloween costumes-we don't do that-just never outgrew playing dressup ,I guess.)[Weird?] I'm not so flamboyant as I sound however for the truth is I'm quite shy. Though in jr. high and high school,I did the punk thing. Long pink bangs, sides of my head shaved, one large gold hoop earring, three small earrings.Strange clothes.gladiator sandals.black liner-egyptian style,fire-engine red lips...Then I went to the bleached blonde,1 to 2 can of hairspray a week, too much makeup look: If I fell,I think maybe my hair would've broken...! I'm sure this doesn't tell you too much about me(other than the fact that I ramble on especially when tired-it's 1:00 am!).Thanks for the neat topic sheepish,I feel rather like a kid at a slumber party!!!

God bless~~~Tracy~~~

This is funny! Some of you are actually the exact opposite of what I had pictured in my head! You all got started on your height and weight. I am 5'5", and look like a stick. Too skinny. Skinny legs and big knees and feet! And no waist, just arms and legs and what is cleavage? I wear a 29-36 size in wranglers. IF I wear shorts people say "Those legs actually hold you up??" and "Your're just some bone with a little hide over it!!" I don't try to be thin, I just am. I eat sweets all the time, fattening things. My mama was skinny like me. I wish I had some more meat on my bones, cuz I get cold unless it is 80 outside!! I have on 3 sweatshirts if it is 60 and sunny. And I freeze anywhere inside with air-conditioning. But Steve is tall and skinny too so we go together pretty good!

-- Cindy in Ky (solidrockranch@msn.com), October 30, 2000.

Been gone all weekend and this is a fun way to start the week. Good morning Cindy! Put me in the jeans/turtleneck group. That's my favorite outfit, but my German heritage (gotta blame it on something) and five kids have located all of my 15 extra pounds around my waist. Believe me, it's hard to find comfortable jeans for ladies with no hips or thighs but a large waist. Due to flat feet, I need to wear shoes all the time, so that's usually sturdy tennis shoes or work boots. Dress shoes are a real killer, so if I have to dress up, the shoes come off the second we get home. We love being at home, so going out nice is limited to business functions and the occasional wedding; but when we do go out, I like the classical/elegant look. Sleek, good fabric, simple lines, tasteful real jewelry (obviously not much of that around here!) and minimal make-up. Hubby likes my hair long (too bad my hair won't cooperate) but since it's thin and fine, around home it's always pulled up and back in a clip. I'm thrilled that since moving to this house where we're on a well, my nails actually have enough strength to stand up to gardening and barn chores. I never wear polish anymore, except on my toes during the summer - much prettier around the pool. This has been a wonderful way to get to know everyone a little better. Super idea, Sheepish!

-- glynnis in KY (gabbycab@msn.com), October 30, 2000.

I'm over 50 years old but still wear my hair past my shoulders and have a close-cropped beard. My hair's still all brown but my beard is mostly gray. I also have an assortment of hats I wear.

-- Shooter (jcole@apha.com), October 30, 2000.

My, this is a long thread! I do most of my shopping at thrift stores, haven't bought a new garment(except for a few underthings)in years. Usually wear jeans, preferably black(they show the dirt less),flannel, plaid, or indian cotton type shirts. In cold weather I have a collection of wool shirts, wear two to the barn, and have at least one for around the house, and another for going to town! For dressing up, I have some broomstick type and denim skirts, which are paired with a nice indian cotton shirt, or a white long sleeved shirt, or maybe a print tee shirt paired with a long sleeved denim shirt. I collect the white long sleeved shirts for showing goats in, and they match just about everything. Don't wear much jewelry lately; my kids have lost a lot of the earrings I once had. I do have a silver and turquoise brooch that was given as a gift from an old Navajo lady that I did sheepherding for, and wear it sometimes. I do have a wedding ring; used to wear a star of david necklace, but got allergic to the chain. I wear wire rim glasses. My hair is long, reddish brown, and wavy, fairly uncontrollable at times! In an attempt to tame it, it is often braided or pulled back in a ponytail. I don't like most perfume, it smells oversexed to me, I don't want to smell like I'm in heat!! There is a brand called Airs, that I like. I have the rain musk and star sandalwood scents. Sometimes I will dab on a little essential oil, such as sweet orange. I am fairly modest, and don't wear a skirt above my knees or anything sleeveless. Nearly always wear blue, green, black, or white.

-- Rebekah (daniel1@itss.net), October 30, 2000.

Well, well, well!!! a few here that didn't turn out to be how I imagined them!!!! I'm 31, 5'9" and I couldn't tell you what I weigh, because I don't believe in weighing myself!!! When the jeans get a bit snug to lean over, I know it's time to cut out the cookies!!!

I generally wear ankle length cotton dresses. They're comfortable and hubby likes them. I have long wavy red hair and green/brown eyes (depending on what color I'm wearing). I wear my wedding band and a diamond anniversary ring. I generally forget to put on makeup (two little boys to get ready in the morning!) Had a small tattoo years ago (in my punk stage -- it went with my purple brush-cut) but got rid of it.

I like slide-on shoes, because I don't like taking the time to do lace-ups -- but wear Reeboks when I do wear jeans. They're comfortable. This, of course, is only from October to March, as I hate having anything on my feet and mostly go barefoot the rest of the year, unless I have to be "presentable"!

-- Tracy (trimmer@westzone.com), October 31, 2000.

4' 10" tall, 120 lbs. Brown eyes, tortoise shell rim glasses; curly brown with grey below shoulder length hair - shower/gel/comb/go, occasional tortoise shell clips or combs to hold it away from my face. Occasionally up in a french twist. No makeup. Plain gold wedding band, tiny diamond posts that were a Mom Day gift from my daughter 12 yrs ago - never been out of my ears since. Thin gold chain with gold heart charm (gift from Hubby) and gold cross (gift from Sis). No other piercings, no tattoos. White scrubs and white timex for work, Shelbyville Rams Sweatshirt and Jeans for ball games, long dresses or jeans and sweaters for around home; shorts in the summer. Mostly wear earth colors with an occasional pink fling.

-- Polly (tigger@moultrie.com), October 31, 2000.

I'm 5'9, don't ever weigh myself, if my jeans stay comfortable & I can keep buying the same size then I know I'm okay. My hair is long & straight, dark brown w/ golden highlights to camaflouge the gray because at 31 I refuse to let them show. Don't care much for jewelry just my wedding ring & watch. I love make-up, but I wear it to enhance (earth tones) I don't want it to be the first thing someone notices about me. I wear perfume for my husband, he loves it, but try to be sensitive when going out in the public. HATE pantyhose!!!!!

-- Lenore (archambo@winco.net), October 31, 2000.

Ditto on the panty hose. Medieval torture would be preferable. What specs do they use on those, anyway? Even the same brand and same size item is never the same. I would rather paint my legs with poster paint, except that it rains so much around here.

-- sheepish (rborgo@gte.net), November 01, 2000.

This is a fun subject since it really makes you stop and take a look at yourself. I have shoulder lenght brown hair, that I faithfully curl with a curling brush, and I always wear eyeliner and mascara. I admit that I enjoy fine jewlery and as such am prone to wearing earrings, watch, rings and tennis bracelets. One can almost tell my mood by the amount of jewlery I am wearing. I like dress slacks, silk shirts, high heels and coordinating jackets. I love my raccoon coat! That is the refined me. The other side of me loves blue jeans, flannel shirts, construction boots and the great outdoors. I have a tatoo on my right shoulder of my husbands name and a rose. I only show my tatoo when I chose to. I am grateful for the two sides of me all rolled into one. C'est la vie!

-- Connie Fields (Cfields6@aol.com), November 01, 2000.

Another ditto on the panty hose. My greatest asset is my legs, but since i refuse to wear pantyhose, I can wear short skirts only in summer. In winter I stick to long dresses or pant outfits.

-- glynnis in KY (gabby@msn.com), November 01, 2000.

Let's see.....Where should I begin. Guess I'll go from head to toe. I have waist-length permed hair that is highlighted very nicely to a pretty blonde (hubby's request). I usually wear it down unless I'm working around the house, then I pull it back in a pony tail because it gets in the way! Sometimes I wear my bangs partly down and partly up and sometimes I wear it up on the sides with a pretty clip or matching barrettes on each side. On days I'm in a big hurry I might just pull it back with a headband, wet it, scrunch it up with some mousse and away I go. I have blue-gray eyes and sometimes wear gold- rimmed glasses. (Sometimes I just don't wear them because they annoy me). I wear make-up every week day as I work outside the home, but on weekends when I'm just home cleaning, I don't wear any make up til I get ready to leave the house to run errands. I dress casual for work as I am usually in the office alone and have minimal contact with the public (except over the phone - Ha! Ha!). I have three holes in one ear and two holes in the other (a high-school mishap), but I only wear one pair of diamond stud earrings that my hubby bought me when I had our last child. I only take them off to let my daughters wear them to their proms, homecoming dances etc. I also wear the same jewelry every day: weddingband and engagement ring and a diamond cocktail ring hubby bought me for one of our anniversaries; really pretty with regular diamonds and baguettes throughout (this is the only piece of jewelry I take off each evening when I get home from work, and then put back on in the morning before I leave for work. Kinda too big to just wear around the house). I wear it on my left index finger. On my right hand I wear a ring I've had since I was 12. It has a white saphire with three diamonds along the side of it - quite unique. Right now I'm wearing an inexpensive watch as I can't stand to be without a watch and the one I usually wear needs cleaning and maybe to have the battery replaced. Hubby lavishes me with plenty of diamonds but really I'm a fairly simple gal. I wear two bracelets as well; one a diamond tennis bracelet given to me by hubby and the other a precious dainty gold heart bracelet that says #1MOM; given to me by my youngest son (hubby really picked it out and gave it to me from him). Another precious piece I wear is a gold cross on a fine chain that was given to my mother many years ago by my father who has been in heaven now for 29 years. He died when I was a young child. My mother came to visit me one year and she put it around my neck and I have never taken it off since. I usually have long fingernails but don't always wear them polished. I love my toenails polished as I wear sandals all the time. Could probably stand to lose about 10 pounds or so but my weight fluctuates up and down 5-6 pounds here and there. Drives me crazy though cause I'm rather small so five pounds can put me in another size clothing. It can be a great nusiance! I don't have any other body piercings and NO TATTOOS! Guess that's about it.

-- Greenthumbelina (sck8107@aol.com), November 02, 2000.

Boy, this has been fun! Here goes--I am 5'3" & 1/2"! I won't tell you how much I weigh( but it's a lot more than I weighed 27 years ago, LOL)! I have short, light brown hair, green eyes amd fair skin. I am more of a "tom-boy" type person. I wear jeans and tees/ or long shirts! I love work boots to work in and barefoot it when I can! I do love to get dressed up once in a while but prefer the jeans and sweats! I have a very wide gold wedding band, small gold hoops in my ears and a necklace that has a gold Dachshund on it, that I wear ALL the time! I NEVER go any where with out mascara on! I can fore-go all the other, if I have to, but not my mascara! I paint my toe nails all the time but my fingernails rarely! I stay in touch with the fashions because my girls (26 and 23) say "mom, you aren't still wearing that-- are you?" or "You aren't going to wear THAT are you!" I don't know how I got dressed before they came along. LOL.

-- Debbie T in N.C. (rdtyner@mindspring.com), November 02, 2000.

Better late than never! 5'7", waist lenght brown hair w/red and blonde streaks natural, getting too long and heavy to wear barrets or pony tails so it's usually in a single french braid, just died those greys and only 30. Summer: broomstick skirts ,spaghetti strap tanks, and no shoes(not even in the barn, scrub feet nightly)Denim overalls if riding. winter:jeans, baggy sweaters, cowboy boots or laced up hiking boots. Tattoo on shoulder of fairy carrying a yellow rose, two holes in each ear, though I never wear earings anymore. No makeup unless we go in town, light makeup then.

-- Epona (staceyb@myway.com), November 03, 2000.

Howdy from the southwest. I usually look like the thrift store's worst nightmare. I buy used clothes for barnwork (actually used clothes for the day job, too!), jeans, tees and flannel shirts & a myriad of sweatshirts from my travels... anything I don't mind getting goat-slobbers on. I'm short with longish grey hair; a couple of tattoos, no make-up... never had the patience. No matter how outdoors-y I look, one can always dress up with a little silver! Love you all. dh in nm.

ps: Terri, silver looks GREAT with red hair!

-- debra in nm (dhaden@nmtr.unm.edu), November 03, 2000.

I'm 22, so college gear is my thing. When I am out, I wear jeans or cargos. If I can get away with it, I'll just kick on Adidas flip flops with it. I usually wear t-shirts and sweaters/sweatshirts. I always wear a watch. I sleep in it. I also wear a silver chain. College is the place for dressing down though, so in the dorm I usually am in my undershirt (or shirtless, in my room). I like to relax in sweatpants, the regular elastic-ankle kind, so they don't tread under my feet, since I hang around barefoot. I sometimes wear a baseball cap. For workout, windpants and t-shirt if I'm at the gym, just shorts or sweats and sneakers if I'm on my own.

-- James Whitmore (lotharofsegni@aol.com), June 21, 2001.

Though I'm not at all gay, I like to wear belly shirts, especially when I work out or play b-ball. I've got a pretty cute belly. Sweats, jeans, shorts, sneakers, cap. My tongue and lip are pierced.

-- Mike Eddison (bihjifkl@hotmail.com), June 26, 2001.

adornment? what for? My cow likes me just as well if I dont have lipstick or necklaces. In fact, the only ones around here impressed by my plain wedding band are the chickens. Nail polish? What in the world for? Oh thats right, my 8 yr old daughter tells me it is good for hiding dirt under your toenails. Hairspray? Sure, the perfect thing for slogging through the rain to go milk the stickin wet cow, pressing my coiffure against her steamy flank... lends a whole new meaning to the term "side dressing."

-- daffodyllady (daffodyllady@yahoo.com), June 27, 2001.

My husband is a over the road truck driver (for more than 17 years.) and I am well aware of the events of women flashing drivers, offering freebies, etc, so I will often dress up in evening formal ware, and pick him up at the truck yard, from one extreem to the next, some times something so tight and scimpy that I wouldn't stand at the end of my own driveway wearing it if he wasn't home and standing right there with me! I like it that he does not even feel tempted elsewhere. He now has a reputation for NOT LOOKING among the other drivers with his company.

-- Thumper (slrldr@aol.com), June 29, 2001.

Well, I just read all those posts and they were great. I'm not that wild looking, mostly fairly casual & plain. I have waistlength dark brown hair, which I usually wear in a braid. Sometimes I put it in a French twist for dress up. I usually wear denim jumpers and t shirts with sandals. Sometimes I wear long, flowing flowered dresses. I'm 5 foot 10, and weigh too much, but I'm dieting and hubby likes me anyhow! I usually wear scrunchies in my hair, or a pretty decorative comb with a french twist. I wear wire rim glasses, and have dark brown eyes. No jewelry, just a watch with a silver band. My husband likes me to paint my toenails pink. Like some of you, I HATE pantyhose. I always say they must have been invented by a man--no woman would be crazy enough to inflict that sort of torture on herself. My dresses are usually pretty full, beacuse I have a little waist and big hips. Can't wear a straight skirt--I'm just sorta big & curvy. I like mostly muted colors--no real bright things for me. I don't like to wear red. Guess that's enough about me. I am really enjoying this thread. Oh, yea I wear socks to bed year round.
