Almond butter can be purchased at most health food stores. We buy it at our co-op but it is rather pricey. I don't see why you couldn't make it by grinding up almonds to a paste and adding a little oil and perhaps salt as needed. I have made small amounts of peanut butter this way in my blender.

You can get it at some supermarkets too. Up here in the NW, you can find it at Fred Meyers. Kroger is in the midwest, and you may be able to find it there. Good luck. I get some of my peanut butter this way, don't care for it in sandwiches, but it's great in several recipies.

To make almond butter all you have to do is grind the almonds in a food processor. You can do the same with any nuts; or sesame seeds to make tahini.

Nutella- Hazelnut butter and chocolate. Food of the Gods. Ummmmm. I get it at Foodlion. My sister turned me on to it when she lived in Mississippi. I found it in several groceries in the south, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, but never here in West Virginia until I requsted it. Ask your grocer to tell you what is out there. I have found that many want to hear what the public wants. Alot will work around your needs.

Carleen, be VERY careful if you buy nut butters, as many manufacturers label it Almond or Hazelnut, but in small print on the back of the jar, it could say "May contain trace amounts of peanuts". They use the same grinding machines to do all the different types of nut butters, and don't always clean them thoroughly in between batches. Just read the label.

It is far more economical to make it at home with the food processor or small blender cups. It tastes so much better, too, and you don't have to hunt all over for it, either.

They are right home made is best and only takes minutes to make even with a hand grinder which is my way I prefer just a pinch of salt So just grind ro process and enjoy Anthony.
