Looking for decendants of a John Lewellen b. abt 1826 in Mecklingburg NC, m. Margaret Knowles on 6 Apr 1844 in Mecklingburg NC. Moved to Panola or Ponatoc, Ms abt 1856. Census of 1870 has them listed with following children: Silas, 1847; Milly, 1850; Mary, 1852; James, 1856; Samuel, 1859; Frances, 1864; Beatrice, 1869; Sidney Harrison (my grandfather) 1872; William 1864. Also looking for information on a Hardy Lewellen m. Catherine Sucress in 1823. Had at least 15 children. Children were James, John, Hiram, Mary, Robert, Elizabeth, Harry, Albert, Cyrus, Clementine, William, Polly, Emily, Washington, Katherine. Migrated to Panola County, MS.abt.1859.

The only 3 I can trace is Sidney, Beatrice and Bud (William Joseph) who lived and died in Ponotoc Co.MS. Where did the others go?? Surely they have descendants somewhere! Can anyone help?

Also looking for a J.Q. (possibly Quincy) and Grace Lewellen. Father was Sidney Harrison Lewellen, bn in MS. JQ and Grace was born between 1885 - 1910 possibly in MS. The story goes that Sidney got into a fight and killed a man then fled. We believe it was somewhere in MS. He then married my grandmother Margaret Ann Elizabeth May Belle Pruitt who was born in MS. Sidney died at the age of 60 in 1933 in Loretto TN. The last name could be spelled various ways. We don't know if he divorced his first wife or not.
