greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am considering purchasing a solar powered unit. I would appreciate any feedback pro or con on these systems. Thanks!

I wasted $100 on a bad one. Mine didn't shock with any regularity whatsoevr. It was/is an F/I solar fence charger. I have read great successes of others with solar shockers, but from conversation it would appear that you need to be ready to part with closer to $200 to get a good one. I belive there was a thread on this not long ago, it would be in the archives somewhere near the bottom. Maybe under misc? good luck!

I have 2: one is used for the cow & horses, 6 volt; one is for the pigs, 4 volt. Other than a blown circuit board, never had any problems. The big one covers a 5-acre pasture easily, and when I had it repaired, the little one handled it fine.

I have 2 and one is fine, its a bigger one and the other is a smaller one, can;'t recall the sizes off hand. But make sure they are grounded well and check them daily. I have houdini goats who will sniff them and get out.
