Does Canon Elan7 autofocus to f8.0 (with teleconverters)?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I have read several reviews of the new Canon Elan7 but have not been able to find any information about whether or not it will autofocus to f8 when using a converter. I have a Canon 300mm f4L lens and when I add the Canon 2X converter I lose autofocus. I shoot both an EOS5 and Elan IIe. Although manual focusing works fine most of the time, there are times when autofocus would come in handy with this setup. I believe that the EOS3 does this and I had hoped that this capability might filter down to the Elan7. Can anyone give me a firm yes or no on this question?

If Thang is correct, and I have no reason to believe he isn't, then my 99.9% decision to buy an EOS 3 is now 100%...

My guess is no. The EOS-7E seem to have inherited the Rebel 2000's AF system, and I didn't get Rebel 2000 to focus a 300F/4 with a Canon 2X EF.

No, it doesn't. Check out the brochure for Elan7. This information is stated in fine prints on the lens page.

No, it doesn't. Contacted canon and confirmed. Only on EOS 3 and 1V.
