Changing business partners

greenspun.com : LUSENET : What keeps you up at night? : One Thread

I've had my own clothing design business for several years, but when I went full-time last year, I did so with a "partner." It is a weird arrangement in that he put in no money, using his time and extensive experience as equity. We have nothing in writing, with everything being in my name or the company's name. He is listed only as the Vice-President on our corporation papers.

But, it is a year later and I do 95% of the work, contribute all the money, and spend more time stressing about what I wish he would do and then doing the work myself. I think I need a new or additional partner, but I don't know how to go about finding one. My current partner was my former professor, and his sole responsibility was to have been production of our wholesale line. I handle design, administration, and our retail store. Needless to say, I'm overwhelmed and things occasionally slip. I need someone who will relieve me of much of the administrative burden and also oversee marketing, both of which distract me from creating the line. I've put out feelers to a few people I know, but I want to broaden the search and find the right person who can commit time, energy, and money.

Bushra, when a question looks like the wrong answer, more often than not, its because there is no right answer.
