I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE PROCESS OF BECOMING A CERIFIED DOULA IN THE STATE OF HAWAII. I LIVE ON THE BIG ISLAND AND I HAVE HEARD THAT THERE IS AT THE TIME NO DOULA TRAINING AVAILIBLE. IS THIS TRUE? AND IF SO, WHAT ARE THE STEPS FOR CREATING ONE? ALOHA JOHANNA FOUST

Hi, CAPPA (Childbirth and PostPartum Professional Association) has a "distance learning" certification program that may be good for you.

They are at www.childbirthprofessional.com

Their website is very slow, so give it time. I cannot vouch for the program, but I am a member of CAPPA and for your situation it may be just what will work best for you!

Good luck, Rachel
