Have Sex, Stay Young

LINK

LONDON (Reuters) - Vigorous regular sex can make you look up to seven years younger, researchers claimed on Tuesday.

Energetic love-making can reduce fatty tissue and release endomorphins from the brain which are natural painkillers and reduce anxiety, according to the authors of a new book ``Secrets of the Superyoung.''

Edinburgh psychologist David Weeks and science writer Jamie James reached their conclusions after interviewing 95 people in Scotland who looked very young for their ages.

Research revealed that sex was a big factor in their youthful appearance.

``The significance of this factor came as a surprise,'' the authors said.

``As much as any other physical activity, sex is an important part of life for young-looking people from late adolescence or early adulthood throughout their entire lives,'' they concluded.

Well, what I think we need here is a controlled study. After all, the research in question doesnt actually say that sex makes you look younger; it only says that people who have active, vigorous sex look up to seven years younger then those who do not. Obviously, this begs the questions perhaps persons who look younger are better at scoring with the opposite sex.

I propose the following research protocol. We pick a few subjects (Im willing to demonstrate my belief in this study by being the first volunteer). We take before photographs. We then subject them to an unrelenting and absolutely mandatory (government funded if need be) course of frequent, vigorous sex, for a period of several years. We then take after photographs and compare them with the before photographs. This should answer the question decisively.

A government panel would be appointed to review the photographs, and to monitor the sex in real time to determine if it was sufficiently frequent and vigorous to meet the research protocol.

capnfun -

What are Ya-Ya's? And is it best that we get them out or send them up?

Bullshit. The oldest people in the world are priests and nuns, and they never have sex. This is just a plot to kill off the commoners with aids.

-- Father Guido Sarducci (smokin.dope@with.the.pope), October 12, 2000.

Student, you're on to something here. I'd like to add something you forgot to point out; the number of subjects in this study was way too small. Only 95. We need much larger groups, both for the control and study groups. At least 100,000, and from varied ethnic, gender and class backgrounds.

I'm sure the current administration wouldn't mind funding it either.

Student,

A controlled study is double-blind with placebo and real sex. Neither S nor reasearcher knows who gets placebo and who gets real sex. Placebo-sex is under development at Iceland Polytek but so far the kids can tell the difference.
