Woman shot while online

DUNN, N.C. (AP) -- A woman's ex-husband broke into her mobile home and shot her as friends on the other side of the state listened from an Internet voice chat room, authorities said.

Deanna Diane Gregory, 28, died Monday at a university hospital in Chapel Hill following the weekend shooting. Gregory told four friends through her computer's microphone that her ex-husband was breaking in, the Harnett County Sheriff's Office said.

The friends heard three gunshots and notified authorities, who found Gregory's front door open and the woman wounded on the couch, Maj. Steve West with the sheriff's office said.

Adam Bruce Moore, 29, was initially charged with attempted murder, but the charge was expected to change to murder, West said. He was also charged with first-degree burglary.

West said the couple's children were staying with Moore's parents when the shooting occurred. Earlier this year, Gregory accused Moore of making threats, but the case was dismissed, prosecutors said.

Yet another "unarmed sheeple gets killed" tale. Too bad the woman had no meanse of self defense. So now her kids have no mother, because she was too stupid to get one.

Oh well, "If it saves just ONE CHILD'S LIFE..."

Right?

What good would a gun do? If he knew she had one, he would have just shot her through the window, or waited until she stepped outside.

*yawn* Another gun yelling contest thread.

Guns are completely irrelevant in this case. A crazed man (or woman) who wants to kill will use whatever they can get their hands on. Kitchen knives, bear hands, you name it. (What do you think people used to kill before guns were invented?)

Really? So, if the woman had had a gun at her desk, she couldn't have grabbed it and shot her attacker? Or are you saying that the bad guy would have killed her anyway? Or perhaps you're saying that it's okay for criminals to have guns, but not "law abiding citizens"?

I'm sorry, but your statement doesn't bear up under scrutiny, nor does your analysis.

^^hee hee hee (sorry I CANT resist), um, I'd prefer bare hands, but I cant ever recall reading where someone used 'bear' hands to kill another human...but, hey ya just never know....

Sorry, that is toooo funny

(blushing) um...I think it's what they call a slip of the pen, Consumer ;) (Slip of the keyboard in this case I guess, or just my brain slip sliding away...weee!)

bear hands...men are all pigs and vicious bears...yeah that's the ticket.

Well No One Here, what can I say. I've stayed away from raging mad people most of my life and I haven't yet needed to defend myself with a gun. But knowing how curious my smart kids were at young ages, I knew that if I kept a gun anywhere within my property, locked at double security and hidden from the most determined thief, my kids would find it and figure out how to shoot it by age 2. (There's not a childproof cap they couldn't open by that age.)

So what was your question again, Non-existant One? Why don't people keep a loaded gun on their desks at all time? Yeah, why didn't THAT mother keep a loaded gun at her side at all times?

I guess idiots like you cull themselves pretty effectively.
