Personally, I Only Really Wake Up Around 6p!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Hedgehog Talk : One Thread

Man, is it hard to get up in the morning, and since I have to get in at 11a, I'm sure that I wouldn't get a whole bunch of sympathy from anyone about that. It would help if I ever went to bed before midnight, but that's just impossible. Are you a morning person or a night person?

A morning person. As in a 5 a.m. person. My day ... whether I'm awake or not... seems to start at 5, naturally, so if I get up at 7 I feel like I've overslept through 2 hours of my day and I'm just as useless later (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.) as I would be if I'd gotten up at 5.

I've concluded it's not that I'm a morning person so much as I'm nocturnal, and I'm nocturnal best when it's the *start* of my day, not the bedraggled end of it.

Re: how hard it is to get up--- oh, yeah, I hear you. But I've usually given whoever's in my bed instructions to kick me out when the alarm goes off... not to mention I've acquired the most obnoxious alarm in the world, which even *I* can't stand listening to.

I go in cycles. Sometimes it's impossible to stay in bed past 6:30 AM and I just have to leap out of bed and get going. Other times I'll write, read, or surf the net until 3 AM. Go figure.

What I really want to find is someone who doesn't mind sitting around in a diner all night playing hearts, drinking coffee, and eating macaroni and cheese. Some nights are just meant to be spent in a diner.

when i was in college i became close to nocterna. i stayed up until 2 every night, then slept til 10. wish i could live that way again... night time is the right time!

The problem isn't when my good hours are; it's that there aren't enough hours. I think I was Bajoran in a previous life. I want a 26 hour day. I always seem to need a couple more hours of sleep than there's time for; so, mornings are not good things for me. Nighttime's fun, because it's quiet, but there's that whole darkness thing, so it kind of balances out.

Night person. And boy, have I ever gotten shit for it, because the most successful bosses, the ones I want to work for, almost always turn out to be morning people, or people who can exist on almost no sleep at all. My dream job is night shift on a copy desk.

Definitely a night person. I grew up in a day person household, and most of the jobs I've had started in the morning, so I never got to fully live the night person lifestyle, but now that I'm working at home I'm slowly evolving into an AM to bed, and PM to rise person

I get up far too early. In fact, I wasn't built to get up at this time.

What a good name for a journal...

Night person, although I sometimes regret it now. I used to pull all-nighters on the weekend when I wanted to get "human" things done. Now, I've just given in to the dark side. When I was a kid, my sister and I were nearly always the first people at school. That wasn't by choice, believe me, but it illustrates how times have changed. I cannot imagine going back to a "normal" schedule now, but something in between is going to be necessary sometime soon. On those rare occasions when I am up in the morning, it always amazes me how beautiful the light is at my place, but I suppose the charm would dissolve if I saw it each and every day.

Actually, several years ago I accidentally turned around to a nocturnal schedule, going to bed at 6 or 7a and getting up at 4p, and I was completely miserable. I hated it with all my heart, but I couldn't seem to get out of the habit until I got a job and had to. My natural schedule would be, if I could, go to sleep at 2a, get up at 11a.

I am one of those people who hate getting out of bed in the morning...I can do it (albeit painfully) when i have to go to work, but at the weekends dont attempt to get me out of bed until at least midday. Now my childhood pattern was that it was a crime to be in bed and the day was wasted yada yada and so it goes. I used to get stressed out about it and think that I should be in bed early and would beat myself up about it if I wasnt but hey, life is too short and no matter what time you get up its a pain in the ass so I just take it as it comes.....and enjoy my lie in's when I get the chance!

I have always thought that I was a night person. Night time seems to be when the most interesting things happen. Waking up to am alarm in the morning is a torture that no human should have to endure. Unfortunately, most office jobs require that 8-5 work schedule that I swear I will never get used to. I still remember fondly that one year in college when my first class didn't begin until 10:45am. I never needed an alarm clock. I would fall asleep and wake naturally on a midnight to 8am schedule. Does that make me a night person?

Night bird. In the 1960's I used to sit up well past midnight with my dad, listening to Sunday night jazz on the radio, knowing that school the next day would be bad - and it was. Nowadays I sit up late at weekends with my son and listen to my old vinyl while he samples it and makes his own music. My mother hated it and would storm through from the bedroom to demand that we turn the noise down. My first wife hated it and slammed doors meaningfully, while I watched late night TV and slaved over some report in those pre-laptop days. My second wife is less of a night bird than she used to be, but our house is on three floors, so I can be noisy, or simply active, on the bottom while she snores on the top one. Who let early birds set the rules?

Every week except week ends I work 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, I have no problem with getting up at 5:00 in the morning every day, I even get up that early on week ends too cuz I think sleeping past 5 am to me is like over slept and I don't like sleeping late in the morning, my day always starts at 5:00 am, including winter time when the sun doesn't come up till 7 am.
