Kenya: City Reels Under Water Crisis

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

The city's central business district and
surrounding areas have been hit by an acute
water shortage over the past few months.

Some hotels have resorted to using water
from boreholes.

Others are paying a fortune for water
supplied by tankers. Sources said some of
the water tankers are owned by people linked
to the city council.

City Hall itself is stinking with toilets
blocked due to lack of water. Efforts to get
an explanation from the council yesterday
over the water scarcity were futile.
