zneed info on Solar and Generator use

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am looking for ways to implement either solar, wind, or generator power on or 5 acres of land that we use for our "get away". I'm the kind of person that needs to see the unit in operation to really understand the workings of it. We live in Elk Mound Wi. If anyone has these or one of these in operation not too far from us and wouldn't mind teaching a novice and giving advice I'd appreciate it, you can e-mail me at WILDETMR@YAHOO.COM. Thanks for any help you could give. Barb

Barb, you might want to check the website of The Midwest Renewable Energy Association -- MREA for information. I know there are some renewable energy folks up around Luck, Wisconsin, but can't remember what kind. The MREA has resource information too.

Check out their section on the Fall Tour of Solar Homes. There are many homes with renewable/alternative energy features and construction -- you probably could get to see quite a few places by taking the tour in your part of the state. I think the "Western Wisconsin" self-guided tour might be near you, or else the northern guided tour?

Barb, Check out stirlingengineering.com. 100 year old technology, so good the space program is considering it for deep space. The basis is solar heating/ambiant cooling of liqiud to produce kinetic energy .

Hey Barb, I,m not in your area, but I purchased 5 acres and a house and did it all solar P.V.Did a search on the web for Solar P.V. equipment and found two companys in my area, they hooked me up with an engineer, that helped me figure out what my needs were, then I had the option of getting new equipment or shopping for used. We live in Colorado and alot of people have solar here.Just finding that company put me in touch with alot of folks!
