I'd appreciate advice about filters for my lens, can I use any filter that will screw in? Or so I need to use Canon brand ones? If so, why?

Answers

Most filters should work, but some filters are too thick. So do check that they aren't a lot thicker than the Canon one that came in the filter holder.

The problem is finding the right sized filters these days.
