dissability support

hello, I am wondering if anyone has any experience with or information on being a doula for a woman who's husband has physical limitations and is in a wheelchair. We have been talking about different positions that they can try during labor, but I was wondering if anyone has experience in any similar situation. It is important to me to help him suport her and not take over his role of support.. Also, he cannot have any pressure on his knees or legs, which means she can't lean into his lap.....any suggestions or other information about this would be great. thanks, val valftaylor@excite.com

I have not had expereince doulaing with such a couple, however, I have had a father who was missing a leg in a childbirth class I taught. What I did was asked them how they envisioned him supporting her in labor. It was neat. Mainly, he said he'd rub her shoulder, wipe her brow, guard her privacy and beleive in her. All any one really can do anyway!
