Japan Energy to close Chita refinery next June

Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. and Japan Energy Corp. said Wednesday the latter's oil refinery in Chita, Aichi Prefecture, will be closed next June as part of their business tie-up. The Chita plant is capable of refining 100,000 barrels of oil per day. Its workforce of about 240 will be reduced to 100 mainly through an early retirement program.
