The fall of Patriarchal religions

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

I am sure my thoughts here will not please the resident christians, and I do not post them to upset these folk-for the most part Y2J, By Grace, etc are good folk, who are willing to debate in a civil fashion.

This post comes as a result of an insight I had while at Bok's on Thursday night. Several months ago I had started a post about a wonderful "goodness" that was in the air-that the time we are in now is a new time of "wonders", and that a new healing spirit was available to all who wanted it. It seems I was somewhat of a channel to spread this info-A very short time later Luna revealed she was ill, and a prayer group formed around her plight-as the group grew, more people who needed prayer made themselves known. With Oxy now in the hospital, there is even more of a need to bond together and spread our healing energy.

The great thing about the group is that we are diverse-we have a catholic, a buddhist, a unitarian universalist, etc. and we need no formal prayers, no agreements in approach, to make this work.

I am not saying that we are headed toward one world religion-in fact, what I AM saying is that there is a new energy, an energy brought in with the age of Aquarius, which helps everyone coalesce, to bond together no matter what their beliefs, to effect good. And I believe this is going to sweep the world in the next hundred years-a spirit of cooperation and the death of patriarchal dominion.

Simultaneous to my thread of a few months ago about the new energy, there were people on SLEZ talking about dread in the air; talking about the end times being here. Again, I would expect this, not because it is SLEZ, but because the awakening of any new energy which challenges the status quo is going to bring about its oppossite-

My theory is that the end times, of course, are not here, but what these folks are feeling, this dread, is actually an unconscious reaction to the end of our world spirituality being dominated by the "Father"-there is going to be a shift to more feminine principles-to nurturing one annother simply becuase it is the right thing to do-to care for one another simply because it is the right thing to do-not to choose the objects of our thoughts and prayers by their belief systems. There will be in the next hundred years more cooperation like we have had in Bok's-I think the world will no longer be dominated by a view that there is an avenging father who will take care of the miscreants in the next life.

This is why so many people feel dread in the air-it is definately the beginning of the end of Christain dominence in the world and the beginning of an all caring, all loving, God. This is what Neil Donald Walsch was talking about in Conversations with God-more people are going to wake up and realize that we CAN create heaven on earth-each one of us, one-by-one. And we can start by practising self-love, by treating ourselves right-eating correctly, getting exercise, quitting smoking, etc-and then treating our family differently-treating our family like this is our last day on earth with them. Then we go on to our neighbors and have compassion for them-The Dalai Lama is big on this-that if we would have compassion for everyone we meet, over time our distrust will dissolve and we can acheive love on earth for everyone.

Call me a dreamer, but I think the internet will be a big part of this. Aquarius is the ruling sign of the internet-the sign is ruled by Uranus, and Uranus has always been considered the ruler of electricity, of technology. It is also the sign of societal change and revolution. I suppose the way we came together in Bok's to form a prayer group is being repeated all over the world by those with a spiritual bent, What is starting out as small cells will grow, and I would be willing to check back in in 25 years, right here, and see how right I was.

Let us band together; let's disagree without being disagreeable-let's start treating our neighbors on the board with dignity and respect. Let us try to love our enemy just for one day-just try. I will share an old exercise with you:

Do you resent somebody today? For the next two weeks, once a day, say a prayer for that person to have everything you yourself desire in life. It is difficult, but do it anyway. Around the beginning of the second week you will see a change-your anger will have lessened, and by the end of the second week, many times you will really desire the health and happiness for that person.

That is all I have for now.

Sounds like "Secular Humanism" at its finest. Go worship your plethora of gods and godesses. I'll stick to mine One, thanks. If there IS a hell, you'll be there soon enough. TFL for you then, though.

As Deedah always says, if heaven is going to be full of people like "no one here" then all the good folk will be in Hell. Of course, this would be the ultimate irony, would it not? That good ol' satan actually used the ruse of "One true God" to sucker a great deal of humanity into his lair he called "heaven".

Secular humanism at its finast? What a joke. Can you find a single thing I said that would decrease the love between people? Can you find a single thing I said that would not lead to better friendships? Can you find a single thing I said that would not make the world a better place?

Again, if your "religion" finds it proper to send out disciples like you to make judgements about wether someone is going to hell, no wonder your religion is on the decline.

The world is through with the self-righteous, throwing slings and arrows in the name of the "one true God". You are a perfect example, my friend, of why we all need to band together in prayer to rid the world of the father's vengeance.

I will pray for you for the next two weeks and see what happens. Until then:

SEEEEEEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUUUUUU INNNNNNNNNNN HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

Pretty funny FS. I ALSO don't see one word in your little pagan manifesto espousing FAITH in a Supreme Being. Your little rant just typifies the secular humanist type of thought. And from the sound of your post, you actually WANT to go to hell. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll make it. Then you and all your buds can have a beer while living in eternal agony (which you don't believe in anyway.)

I suggest you actually go look up the term secular humanism in the encyclopedia. You'll find that it describes your opinions perfectly.

FS already has found heaven, IMO. "noone here" on the other hand, is making his own hell here on earth by saying such things.

IMHO, ofcourse.

My theory is that the end times, of course, are not here, but what these folks are feeling, this dread, is actually an unconscious reaction to the end of our world spirituality being dominated by the "Father"-there is going to be a shift to more feminine principles- to nurturing one annother simply becuase it is the right thing to do- to care for one another simply because it is the right thing to do- not to choose the objects of our thoughts and prayers by their belief systems.

FS many feel it is just this slide from the Father(as you call Christianity I am assuming)and into humanistic practices and beliefs, is the core reason for most of the world's troubles, and thus the predictable heat seen in response.

How do I feel about this? Well I have no interest in what "the world" is up to frankly in these matters. I believe the good book and Christ is about YOU, and for YOU, the individual. It is a survival plan from the issue of EGO.

Man I tried em all. Until the issue of self was addressed, nothing stuck. Take that for what it is worth.

Well, we sure have a variety of responses. I am truly happy that one of our forum members revels in the idea if me being in hell. What a corrupt human being-I pray for you and your family. This kind of christian "love" we can all do without.

This world, this country was NO BETTER when it was dominated by our puritan brethren. Women could not vote, people kept slaves, what a wonderful world it was before, when we all lived in peace with christian principles. It is funny, though, when we read about the families of our high school mass murderers-to a tee, they were brought up in christian households, with a vengeful father scenario- hmmm-now isn't that interesting.

Again, someone chooses to attack what I said as secular humanism-hey, I know what it means, and I am going to disappoint you by saying my beliefs defy a label. That is exactly the point. Labels divide- religion divides-The idea that some group of people is "better" or "chosen" is the source of ALL of the world's conflicts-not secular humanism. "better" is the source of all the pain and division; most people refuse to see WE ARE ALL EQUAL IN THE EYES OF GOD.

I am sorry also to disappoint the person who thinks I should make reference to an Anthropomorphic God-Does God have to be either one or many? I do not think so. There is nothing seperate from God-There is nothing that is that is not god-so the attempt to seperate man from god is an illusion. If God is everything, there is no need to distinguish it from us.

Very few christians want to truly believe the kingdom of GOd is within. They believe is some pretty metaphor from the new testament. Well I am here to tell-the kingdom is here, and more people are going to realize this.

I still issue the challenge to my detractors-please find one thing in my initial post that would not make life better for more people. Take the suggestions one at a time and tell us how this is not a good way to live. Making general statements about the world being a worse place because of secular humanism does not cut it-it is a cop-out.

Wether you like it or not, we will evolve as a species. It is a backward species who needs the threat of eternal retribution as a reason to behave. We will reach a point where people will be civil to one another, will love one another simply because it is the highest expression of themselves. As more people realize they are co-creators with god of this world, there will be less reason to divide and conquer, and more reason to cooperate.

Doc:

Thanks for your words, but my ego is fine as a part of me. I am glad you have found solace, but the whole point of my spirituality is there is room for everyone. A God who excludes does not make sense to me; it does not ring in my soul. EVERYONE will return to god.

FS,

Point taken,,,but look at this thread as an example.

One cannot shed their egos completely, it just has to be put into proper alignment is all. Doing so will trim it down and put its influence into proper perspective. This is what a healthy ego is.

BTW, while we are at it, what is Humor? Where does this come from?

Jeez don't leave me hanging like that. I want more.

FutureShock -

On more than one occasion now you have posted on a subject that I had just been reading about. I totally agree with you that it is the beginning of the end of Christain dominence in the world. As you said, the internet will be a big part of this.

The following is taken from Neglected Aspects of Western History:

In the Twentieth Century, by virtue of the rise of advanced communications technology, the Christian meme-set is finally facing the challenge which will topple it. As with any virulent meme-set, the antidote is knowledge. In the small world created by telecommunications it is impossible for Christianity to hold itself up in its territories as the sole source of goodness, charity, family values, artistic inspiration or peaceful government. It struggles in vain to deny the evidence of sounds, pictures and writings from around the globe, that there are other good ways of being and doing, and that some of these may actually be more peaceful and "moral." It can no longer deny that the many ancient faiths it opposes, from North America to Australia, from the steppes of Asia to the Pacific Islands, differ only in form, not in substance. It cannot prevent some brave souls from recalling that the original teachings of its purported "founder" had far more in common with these other Paths than with what it has become. It can only shout the same old time worn epithets at its adversaries, drowning free thought under torrents of noise, springing reflexive reactions from its slaves by using long-established catch phrases.

The end of the Monotheist meme-sets is in sight, heralding an era of enlightened Earth Spirituality. This is the time when these things MUST happen, for this long-dominant philosophy, coupled with the powers of modern technology, can lead only to perpetual, dreary slavery at best, or planetary extinction at worst.

"...springing reflexive reactions from its slaves by using long- established catch phrases."

"Then you and all your buds can have a beer while living in eternal agony..." --no one here

Sad.

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), September 18, 2000.

Debra:

Why sad? Doesn't this mean that all of the secularization of religous beliefs was nonsense? You know what I mean. The creation of world political organizations based on religious beliefs. Or does it? Your call.

Best wishes,,,,

Debra:

I had no idea anyone else was thinking this or writing about this. It makes ya think, doesn't it? When there is a paradigm shift those souls who are open to it are going to be the ring bearers-the time of joy is coming- it is not what the christians were thinking it was going to be...
