Many of you who know little about CPR besides his recent annoying rants will probably be as suprised as I was to find out about his past history with the subject of Y2K. When someone is so aggressive in their attacks on others, they are usually hiding some dirty little secrets of their own. It seems da Creep was in it for the money as well, after ranting and raving about Ed and Gary selling printed material to help people get prepared.

If this organization is supposedly a "Data Administration Management Association" then how come they are no longer in business? How come they were only in business from around 1996 until 1999? Sounds like a scam to me! Telling people they were experts at "data administration," scaring them into spending a fortune to fix their computers, and then taking a commission from sales of overpriced generic pre-packaged quick-fix programs from their vendors. They probably closed down in December of 1999 so that no one could sue them when they found out that nothing would have gone wrong anyway, and they were just ripped off by sleazy salesmen!
Also on his website, you'll find a variety of attempts to use Y2K fear as persuasion for further profits. Included in his scrolling banners on the bottom of your browser you will see these somewhat subliminal FUD-creators, including one where CPR attempts to boost his real-estate sales by suggesting that the Dallas/Fort Worth area is a safer place to live during Y2K!!...
And don't forget this little guy...

In honesty, there is an international DAMA organization (http://www.dama.org/), and there
is a link on the main organization page to a DFW chapter (which
seems to have a meeting coming up in November).

I could find no references to any Charles P. Reuben (or "cpr" or "CPR"
or "CreePeR" or "WHY DON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME, YOU IGNORANT DOOMZIES!

nowhere. It would seem to me that someone as IMPORTANT and CRITICAL as

May D-FW Prep 2000 Meeting
The next D-FW Prep 2000 meeting is scheduled for tommorrow, Friday May
21st. The intent was to offer a program consisting of a panel of
individuals working to address the year 2000 within the retail
industry.
Participants from five major retailers in the Dallas area, each who
had
attended earlier Prep 2000 meetings, were invited to serve on the
panel.
Unfortunately, three organizations have declined to participate and
two
have not responded as of today.
As a result, there will be no formal program for the May meeting of
the
D-FW Prep 2000 Group. Those who are interested are welcome to
gather at
the meeting location to network informally. No formal meeting will
be held
this month. My apologies for the late notice but I was holding the
notification pending hearing from the invitees.
June D-FW Prep 2000 Meeting
The scheduled topic for the June 1999 meeting of D-FW Prep 2000 is
addressing the year 2000 within local govenment. Representatives from
several local cities will be invited to participate on a panel
discussion
for the June meeting. This meeting is scheduled for June 18, 1999.
Assist with Program Planning - Your Help is Needed
D-FW Prep 2000 needs your involvement in identifying and planning
meeting
programs. As we move closer and closer to December 31st, many
organizations are busy completing their year 2000 initiatives. Other
organizations have completed their activities but are apprehensive
about
discussing the project in public. The one topic that tends to get
the most
interest (and media coverage) is personal preparation and survival
techniques. Although we hosted an informative panel on this subject
in
January 1999 and the meeting was well attended, I do not believe a
survivalist mentality matches with the perspective of most Prep 2000
participants (please write if you wish to see more programs on
personal
preparedness).
We need your ideas and thoughts for future program content. Is your
organization and industry group on track to be ready for y2k? Can you
present your experiences or recommend someone who can? Please

February 19, 1999 Meeting Addressing the Year 2000 at H-E-B
Grocery
The program will be a presentation and discussion on how H-E-B
Corporation is
preparing for the year 2000. H-E-B is a $6 billion grocery
retailer with
245 stores and over 42,000 employees. H-E-B is the
12th
largest food retailer in the United States. Mr. Gavin Nichols
will present
the program. Gavin is a Director of Information Services at H-E-
B and is
the manager of H-E-Bs enterprise-wide year 2000 program. This
program was
rescheduled from December due to a change in Mr. Gavins schedule.

meeting due to an overriding conflict
(senior
management scheduled an
annual planning meeting for all managers
superseding
the earlier invitation
to speak to Prep 2000). We will look
forward to
a great program by Gavin
in February.
The January Prep 2000
meeting is
scheduled for January 15th. The program
will be a debate
regarding to
what level one should personally prepare for
the year 2000.
Dennis
