Wyoming: Underwood Oil and Gas fined for spills CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Oil and Gas Commission has fined Underwood Oil and Gas of Casper $3,500 for seven violations related to two oil spills in Campbell County.

The spills occurred in March and July, but some problems from the spills still persist. A state inspector discovered dead migratory birds on a spill site north of Rozet on Saturday.

Inspector Ron White said oil from one spill ran almost a quarter of a mile down a ditch while production water ran even farther. No oil or production water reached a nearby reservoir.

Commission staff said Underwood did not notify or file a report with the state on either spill. In addition, the company was slow or altogether failed to comply with several cleanup orders.

The commission set an October deadline for cleaning the spills.

Lloyd Underwood, acting president of Underwood Oil and Gas, said the company will meet the deadline.
