Blue Camoflauge- what are these?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

An aquaintance noticed two military looking men enter the local grocery store yesterday, they were wearing blue camoflauge uniforms, young guys with earrings.(!) People around here are wondering if these are UN soldiers or what is going on. This is in northern Idaho, where conspiracy theroiries abound, but every so often our paranoia is justified. There is this lawsuit with Richard Butler (leader of the despicable Aryan Nation Nazis),going on nearby, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I've seen those DBU's in my local Army Surplus. Never saw anybody wearing 'em though...

Hard to say. May have been Aryan Nation or just some guys who wanted to look different to be noticed.

By the way, the lawsuit against the Aryan Nation has ended with their being fined something like $18 million (not sure of number). Basis was some of their security personnel beat up some protestors outside their compound.

The chances of the being UN troops are just about nil, although they do, I believe, wear blue helmets.

Theya are definately NOT UN soldiers. Just some kids who like to wear uniforms. I can't think of a service that allows earrings while in uniform (ours doesn't even allow out of uniform), and the "urban camoflage" isn't normally used by UN or western nations. The last time I saw any soldiers wearing that stuff they were from a ragtag Bosnian (Serb) unit.

I don't live in N.Idaho, but in NY the kids wear the blue camo to play 'paint ball', or the hunters cause dawn/dusk is well, bluish, and it's the perfect cover. Hope that's all there is to it for you! I understand your concern.

As someone else already said, the blue camoflage is designed to be used in urban situations on the theory that the blues, grays, and blacks will blend in better with city surroundings than the standard camo will. Camo is available in a variety of types, including alpenflage, which is designed for mountain use and snow camo. There are others too. I just cannot remember them all.
