Arizona Gas Prices Still Rising

The summer driving season is over, but gasoline prices continue to soar in Arizona.

The statewide average price of unleaded self-serve regular jumped three cents in the past week, to more than $1.50 per gallon. AAA Arizona says that's two cents higher than the national average.

It's the sixth straight week Arizona prices have been above the national average. Low fuel inventories coupled with record-high crude oil prices are being blamed. AAA says the increase is surprising, noting that demand for gasoline and prices usually drop after Labor Day.

Traditionally, gas prices drop after Labor Day, but not this year, and for good reason.
