The Anvil

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

Last eve, I paused beside the blacksmith's door,

And heard the Anvil sing the vesper chime.

Then looking in I noticed on the floor,

Old hammers worn with beating years of time.

"How many Anvils have you had?" said I,

"To wear and batter all these hammers so?"

"Just one," said he, and then with a twinkling eye

"The Anvil wears the hammers out, you know."

And so, I thought, the Anvil of God's Word,

For ages skeptic blows have beat upon.

And though the noise of falling blows was heard,

The Anvil is unchanged, the hammers gone!

Nice, comfort words, Thank You. Todays Preacher spoke about same. Our Religion seems to be the only one where our God is not angry with us. He spoke of other Religions where they had to lay their First Born on a sizzling sacrifice. Not in this time frame, for me. I brought upon myself to move to BFE, it isn't so bad here. Totally different. And I haven't laid out, one Grandchild.

Religion is man made for the most part. It's all about what man must do, give up, accomplish, etc, in order to be saved....instead of the one thing God requires - faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The only religion I can accept is the Bible's definition - "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." -Ja 1:27

In all honesty the anvil is religious zealotry, and logic is the hammer.
