Nova Scotia: Gas rockets on East Coast

National Post HALIFAX - Gas prices shot up across Atlantic Canada yesterday. Retailers said high crude prices forced them to raise prices. In Halifax many gas retailers increased their prices to 81.9 cents a litre for regular unleaded gasoline, an increase of eight cents from prices on Thursday. Prices went up about four cents a litre in Moncton, N.B., to 79.9 cents, while they rose to 79 cents a litre in Fredericton. The highest reported prices were in St. John's, Nfld., where gas was selling for 86.9 cents a litre.
