Does anyone have info on how the citizens of Kamiah, Idaho are doing and were they evacuated? I have Countryside friends who moved from Texas to Kamiah, Idaho, they are off the grid so the u.s. mail is the only way to contact them. Anyone from that area? I would sure appreciate some info. As far as Texas, it's finally cooled off a little, the a.m temp was 67 burr for the kids getting on the bus, the hight was 93 I think. It's a nice break from 110 days and no rain yet!

Hi Carol,

We don't live in Kamiah, but we own a ranch there, and have good friends there. As far as we know, Kamiah has not been hit by any major fires. I am guessing that your "off the grid" friends might be up in the Woodland area, which is where our ranch is. No major fires up there.

I live in northern Idaho, no fires here. We had some pretty stringent fire restrictions for awhile, but it's been raining for a few days, so most of those have been lifted now. Most of the fires have been in central Idaho.

I live near Kamiah and belong to the quilt club there.. I didn't get to the meeting Tuesday but my friend did and didn't say anything about fires.There has been a little rain and it has cooled off.. Its still TOO dry and if someone does something stupid or if we get lightning there could still be trouble..Doris in Idaho

We're in North Idaho and we did have some fires going on but, from what I hear, they are mostly contained at this time. We had two pretty smokey days (the smell lingered in the air for awhile longer) where I'm at but that was about it. We finally got some rain but we're still under strict burning restrictions.
