All right, I've seen the whole thing now. Hm. They're TALKING. Wierd. "What's up with those commercials." Hee hee.

-- Frostbite (mbkrooks@bellsouth.net), September 03, 2000.

O.k. Frostbite, spit the canary out of your mouth and talk! What are they like? Diverge some info, let us in on it, yap.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 04, 2000.

OK, OK, so it starts out as a run-of-the-mill commercial, except animated, with views of the food and some guy saying stuff like "It's better than KFC! Oops, did I say that out loud?" Then the camera pulls back to show That Girl watching a mini TV in her car and eating chicken. She says "Great chicken. But what's up with those commercials?" and drives along.

It's kind of interesting that I got up when the commercials came to go get a Coke. Then I heard the words: "This program brought to you by Checkers." I sat my ass back down. *sigh* Happy little fangirl me.

Oooh, you lucky girl. Wish I could see them, have you seen all 5 yet? How's the art? I suppose when you say That girl there is a particular girl in all of them? Is she Aeonish? Chungian? I've never seen any, you know. I would llllllllove to see some of the 'new' Chung stuff, hot off the presses and all like that. Encore.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 04, 2000.

Except for this new one, you can tell within a fraction of a second that Chung made them. Well, actually I've only seen two others: the one where she makes a pit stop and the one where she plays chicken with some guy. The Girl is basically Aeon with a race car driver uniform and her hair brushed out. The commercials themselves are 20 second increments of joy.

VCR. You, me, email, settle, money, copies.

Holly's beautiful to behold, you've got to see her. http://checkers.com/images/site2_02_02.gif Seems Checkers/Rally turned in their best quartely earnings since 1993. They are up 331% since last year.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 05, 2000.

Yeh, she is OK, but not as angular in aesthetic and edgey in theme as I expected from Peter

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), September 06, 2000.

True, she is rather 2-dimensional, and doesn't have the "chiseled" look of Aeon Flux & Alexander. However, the face is very Aeonish.

btw, I looked at Checker's website, and they have 81 locations in Georgia! No wonder Frost has been seeing all these great ads. There are also two overseas locations (in Israel of all places), and nearly 200 in Florida, but none on the west coast. Guess I'll have to do without for now :(

-- Paul (gilbreathfamily@worldnet.att.net), September 06, 2000.

Saw the pic - looks to me like the results of extensive cross-breeding between Chung characters and Disney characters...

-- Charles Martin (cmmartin@princeton.edu), September 06, 2000.

makes me wonder whether Peter's character design was changed

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), September 06, 2000.

Perhaps the design was "modified" slightly by a fan of Lara Croft? At any rate, I'm sure she looks better in motion.

-- Paul (gilbreathfamily@worldnet.att.net), September 06, 2000.

She has kind of an air-heady, model voice. It's creepy. Course, she's only said one line so far, so..... And yeah, there's puh-lenty of Checkers here in the land of cotton. We love our chicken. Let's see if I can actually manage to record this.

-- Frostbite (mbkrooks@bellsouth.net), September 06, 2000.

Hmmm... I live in Georgia and haven't yet seem any ads... Frostbite, on what stations have you been seeing these things?

-- Matthew Rebholz (matrebholz@yahoo.com), September 06, 2000.

Um, ABC I believe. I was watching Star Wars.

-- Frostbite (mbkrooks@bellsouth.net), September 07, 2000.

Frostbite, you should record it, if nothing else than for yourself. You'll probably want it, and wouldn't it be nice to have a collection of all his work? I would love that, personally. BTW I was wondering about Holly's voice, those guys, heck, you'd think they might have given Denise a call!

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 07, 2000.

Well, I don't know. It's not AWFUL. It's not squeaky or stupid or anything but, well, it's certainly no Denise.

-- Frostbite (mbkrooks@bellsouth.net), September 07, 2000.

Well, anyway, I really like Holly. I love the red outfit for one, she's my 'wallpaper' (opening screen), and I look at her a lot. I love the pink lipstick, and the Aeonish look, and the peculiar way she's holding that Freudian looking hamburger.

-- Barbara ellen (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 07, 2000.

I've got people e-mailing me now asking to buy tapes of these commercials. Let's wait and see if I'm actually able to record one (I haven't seen it since), and then we'll talk. Oh, and I also get people asking for Peter Chung's e-mail adress and wanting to know how to get in touch with him. I think this board is really the best way, guys.

-- Frostbite (mbkrooks@bellsouth.net), September 10, 2000.

Yeah, when you are sucessful in recording them, just remember, I asked first.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 10, 2000.

And if you do remember me, thanks, (I don't mean to sound so pushy Frostbite).

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 10, 2000.

I have to say regarding Holly's non-chiseled appearance, remember, she is selling hamburgers/cokes for a diet, and it's hard to look 'chiseled' on that diet! Aeon was a model, and probably lived on lettuce.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 13, 2000.

"In Holly's world only performance counts", hmmm...a comment on the depth of Hollywood? Quite the Dylanesque statement.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), September 17, 2000.

Hmmm, guess it could be taken that way... but did Peter write this, or the company?
