I took this shot a few years ago. I wasn't real happy with how I printed it but I solicit it for comments. I recently got a scanner & even more recently got it to work with windows. The shot was taken on medium format with plus-x.

Nice detail (thank the large negative for that), but too cropped and centered to pique my interest.

I would return and reshoot the scene using a 16x20 camera. they are big and uncommon but they do exist.-J

Christian-- This tree was trimmed back so as not to interfere with a nearby dirt access road. I see in the tree is the groves, lines, and patterns on its trunk & many branches. The image is purposely cropped because it is more on the line of a head shot. In my thinking, the the damage done by man & the elements is similar to the many weather worn wrinkles on the face of a older person. To me, the tree has weathered its on slaught & stands proud.

Of particular irritation to me, is the noticeable light area where the dirt contrasts against the background. Also, I don't like the bright sky area in the top right. I think if I scanned the negative, I could improve on it.

Josh-- I can't image shooting with a 16x20. I presently have no darkroom & those that I have had or rented had no capacity to print such a negative, other than a contact print. I have used 4x5 & think it or an 8x10 would be better suited for this application. Especially, this would be nice if a large print several feet across was made. Thanks for the input.
