new gas furnaces

I am having a hard time finding good quality comparisons on the different brands of high efficiency gas furnaces. I need a new furnace and want a combination of high quality and good price.

It is as important to have a good and safe installation as is the price of the furnace. As far as furnaces go, there's not really a lot of difference between the better ones. We live in Indiana, and the best ones around here are Carrier-Bryant-Trane, and even Heil is on the verge of dependability. The best thing to look for is the visable features of these. And of course the price. Be sure to get a qualified installer. I'm Cindys hubby so if you need any more help she'll let me know. In case you're wondering, I am a qualified service tech. Hope I helped

Gas furnaces! None of the new ones compare to the older design and materials used to build'm. Probably the last GREAT one is/was the Williamson. All others used it as their standard. I can't get too excited about any brand now a days but slightly prefer the Heil or Tempstar. Janitrol is a cheapie as is the Rheem. Carrier and Trane I refuse to sell. New burners are made from tin as opposed to the older cast iron dudes. New ones are noisey and backfire more frequently than the old easy lighting, quiet iron ones. Almost all, if not all, furnaces now are controlled by computer boards. Big problems in this area because of lighting, line surges. They die like flys when we have thunderstorms around here. Too many different puter boards to stock for different furnaces although they are starting to standardize what's used. Give'me an old 80 plus with mechanical controls and I'll make it work-even after mr lighting has visited. Not so with the "boarded" ones. Hope this helped. Matt. 24:44
