Boiling water needed for safety

Thursday, August 31, 2000 City officials have ordered businesses and residences near the Euclid Ave. water main break to boil tap water before using it until 6 p.m. today.

The order covers the area bounded by Superior Ave. on the north, Carnegie Ave. on the south, Ontario St. on the west, and E. 18th St. on the east.

Also, police have closed several downtown streets to make way for cleanup: E. 14th St. between Prospect Ave. and Euclid Ave.; Euclid between E. 14th and E. 12th St.; Huron Rd. between Euclid and Prospect; and E. 13th St. between Euclid and Chester Ave.

The Regional Transit Authority has rerouted its buses to avoid the break, moving those that would normally travel along Euclid to detour to Prospect between E. 9th St. and E. 18th St.
