Sorry, I lost part of the cut and paste snip:

"How we take care of this planet must be the litmus test of whether we have access to other planets. It's even possible that they could decide that we are an environmental threat and a hopeless species that must be eliminated. "

While I consider myself an environmentalist, I am not too impressed by the use of junk science or the lack of cost benefit analysis.
