greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

Heard on a radio talk show that there is a proposed bill that would force taxpayers to claim handguns and pay a registration tax..apparently would not apply to long guns. Has anyone heard of this? I seem to remember several hoaxs similar if not identical to this..Sorry didn't hear bill number

Probably a hoax but if it is true you can be sure that the Democrats will do their "Let NOTHING go UNTAXED" thinking if TEOTW comes and algore is elected. Then only a 75% GOP CONGRESS will save the US.

Found additional info at ez: www.senate.gov Senate bill S-2099, for handguns with a registration and $50 per gun tax..this could be serious if passed

It's not a hoax, it really is listed on the Senate's website. Search under "SB-2099" and you'll pull up the entire thing. (If you wan't to e-mail your Congressmen, here's a site to do it at):

What gets me is that it won't *do* anything to stop the criminals from committing crimes - it's just another law to harass the uaually law-abiding U.S. citizen.

Why the heck can't they just enforce the laws that they *already have* instead of throwing more paperwork at us, more hoops to jump through.

Dammit, if I wanted to live in a Socialist/Communist state, I'd learn Mandarin Chinese and move to mainland China!

If you read the information at the Senate link you'll see that the bill was read twice and then refered to the Senate Finance committee - in FEBRUARY. That bill is as dead as the proverbial doornail.

However, work your way through the links to read about the other legislation this goodball from Rhode Island has introduced. Sort of looks like the Socialist Manifesto. And, why is a crappy little state like Rhode Island allowed to have even one senator, let alone two? Life is just so unfair!

I read that intro sentence, but not knowing the way the system works did not realize that that means its a dead bill..hope you are right
