i have 3 dogs that are shedding out now and boy do i have fur. i donot know why they are shedding this early but i will send the fur to anyone who wants to try spinning it, they should be done i a week or so.

Sounds interesting, but I'm gonna pass! I have so many fleeces to work through that I will be spinning until the next millennium! Fortunately, the weather is starting to change (did I say fortunately?) and I will be indoors again one of these days.I've seen some wonderful knit coats made of spun dog hair. Not sure what breed, though. How nice of you to offer, though.

I've heard about using canine fur, but does it smell when it gets rained on?

I cant answer that as I have never made anything but a rug out of It [ one of my customers made a full length coat out of her keeshound though ]I deodarize my skeins and they dont smell when there washed and ready to set. Samoyed looks and feels just like german angora when spun.
