Power outage hits area again UNION-TRIBUNE August 26, 2000

Malfunctioning electrical power cables left about 1,800 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in Tierrasanta without electricity yesterday morning, a company official said.

Power was restored to all but 40 customers by late afternoon, said SDG&E spokesman Art Larson.

Yesterday's outage was the third in Tierrasanta this week. They were caused by problems with underground cables, Larson said.

Each episode affected hundreds to more than 1,000 customers, he said.

The area affected by yesterday's outage is roughly bounded by Tierrasanta Boulevard, Antigua Boulevard, La Cuenta Drive and Seda Drive, he said.

The cables were installed in the 1970s and develop wear over time, he said.
