JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- A jury awarded the state
of Mississippi $474.5 million in its suit against a
company that failed to deliver on a new tax
processing system that was supposed to modernize
the state's collection efforts.

The state said American Management Systems Inc.'s
tax revenue management system never ran properly, despite contract
extensions and cost overruns.

On Thursday, American Management Systems stock was down $6.813 a
share, or 31 percent, to close at $15 on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
