"There's been refinery problems, fairly small
ones, and the normal agricultural demand for
this time of year," one oil product trader said.

. . .

Meanwhile, gasoline production has not kept
pace with the strong summer demand. Production
was down to 970,000 barrels a day in California
last week down 6.7 percent compared to 1.04
million barrels of output the prior week.

Small refinery glitches have included a BP
Amoco Plc's coking unit problem, an outage at
Tosco Corp's hydrogen plant near San Francisco,
and Equilon problems at two of its California
refineries, sources have said.
