This is my first post to this site. I am wondering what others think of the framing here. Does the straight down the middle work in this shot, or should I have shifted the tree off to a side?

Very nice, indeed. One thing that does bother me is the symetrical balance of the subject. I would like to see a bit more of the bank in the top of the frame. This would give a bit more perspective to the ex-plant and maybe a bit more color. Right now it is a bit abstract and would benefit from being less so. A minor issue: can you get a bit more out of the scan via some crafty use of curves for color in a final print. Possible and it would look even better. Regardless, it has nice color to start with.

For a second there I thought I was having deja vu, but then I realized that you posted this on a photo.net forum.

Straight down the middle doesn't really work for me; this is one time I'd go with the "suggestion of thirds" (I don't make it a rule). And like Chris I'd like to see some more of that bank to differentiate the two halves of the photo.

You captured a great moment, but your composition needs work. Keep at it.

Oh, and welcome to the board. (I always forget to say that.)
