Greens look Blue

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Using a C-2000 with two tota 1000w lights mounted in softboxes. Question is why are my greens turning blue ? Shooting company store appearal, jackets, bags, etc.. Camera settings : Flash off, Autofocus, WB tugnsten, iso 100 SHG, tiff.

Any thoughts would be great, not used to shooting anything but small parts for use in parts catalog.

Thanks

You don't give us much information to work with here. Are you shooting catalog work digitally? Do you have Photoshop and, if so, how proficient are you with it? Selective color manipulations are not particularly difficult in Photoshop, but there is a learning curve. If you are not using it, or if you are not particularly knowledgeable in Photoshop, then I would recommend a freelance hire of someone who knows how to reproduce for print. Won't be cheap, but better than blowing a job. You're only as good as your last output! If you go freelance be sure and check credentials for print (ink on paper as a catalog) because this is totally different than photographic output.

2 Killowatts of light is not much when it's been put through a diffuser, and if you're using live models you'll most likely be using a fairly fast 'shutter' speed. Chances are that you're seeing the results of underexposure.
Try taking the soft boxes off the lights and see if the results improve as far as colour rendering goes.
Long term solution. Get some heavy duty flash (strobe) lighting.
