Televisions in nearly 4,800 households from Brighton to Newton went black last night as a Boston Edison power outage robbed customers of watching the long-awaited final episode of ``Survivor.''
``They're looking for the fault. They had expected to get some of the power back on by now,'' Dena Lahman, a spokeswoman for Boston Edison said just after the series ended at 10 p.m.
Richard Hatch of Middletown, R.I., was voted sole survivor of 16 castaways stranded on a Borneo island and walked away with a $1 million prize.
Power blew just 20 minutes into the 8 p.m. final ``Survivor'' episode in Watertown, Newton, Brighton and Allston, inciting harrowing cries from a few viewers on the edge of their seats in the Oak Square area of Brighton.
``You should have heard the shout that came out when `Survivor' went off,'' said Jon Seamans, 41, of Brighton. ``At least six cars left the neighborhood, and the guy across the street (started) his generator.''
