-- Oxy (, August 23, 2000.

My money has been on the Rude-meister. Seals kick ass.

-- Uncle Deedah (, August 23, 2000.

I dislike all of them!

-- (, August 23, 2000.

Kelly sucks.

-- Oxy (, August 23, 2000.

Sue is gone.

Am I the only person on the planet who hasn't seen this show?

-- cin (cin@=0).cin), August 23, 2000.

Ask Bingo, cin

-- Oxy (, August 23, 2000.

Well, Kelly just won immunity, again. And Richard may have just cut his own throat by bailing so early on the immunity challenge. Things should get real interesting now...

-- Jim Morris (, August 23, 2000.

Rich is the best "throw away" to have as one of the end two, because the final jury vote could go against him. The other two know that.

-- Oxy (, August 23, 2000.

It might, Oxy, But he did feed them quite a bit with his skills at spear fishing so that might work in his favor. We'll see...

-- Jim Morris (, August 23, 2000.

Does anyone really watch this mindless pap?

-- Dan Newsome (, August 23, 2000.

Yes Cin, probably you're the only person left on the planet that hasn't seen this show. I thought I was one of the most t.v. challenged person on the planet also, since I have never watched a single episode of the X Files, and felt like I was from another planet for a long time because the xfiles were discussed at every social gathering, even more so on the internet.

BUT... I was suckered in watching an episode of Survivors a few weeks ago. It all sounded promising anyway. Well...that was a disapointment alright. Not so much about the show (since anything on prime time TV IS disapointing, and Survivor just proved me right), but I disapointed myself for being suckered into watching it, from all the hoopla. Scares me that I might be falling more and more for the gimmicks as I age...

-- (, August 23, 2000.

No cin I've never watched it either, but from my limited knowledge I think cpr might be right.

-- Butt Nugget (, August 23, 2000.

Drat. I missed the ending.

-- Oxy (, August 23, 2000.

Yes Dan, a lot of us watch this pap.

-- Pap Schmere (watches@the.pap), August 23, 2000.

No, cin, you aren't. In fact, I had never HEARD of this show until people HERE starting discussing it.

Hatch charged with child abuse... LinK

But when Hatch got back home he faced an unforeseen challenge: Just days after returning from the island last April he was charged with second-degree child abuse.

His then 9-year-old son told police Hatch pulled him by the ear and wrapped his hands around his neck when the youngster grew fatigued on a run. The criminal case is pending. Hatch is suing police and state child welfare officials for false imprisonment and defamation and is seeking more than $1 million in damages.

(Sounds like a great guy..huh?)

-- survivor fan (, August 24, 2000.

Well I watched for the 1st time last nite. It was pretty cool....Ox, did Capn get picked or did he try out yet? Where's he been?

That sue was a trip.

Didnt recogonize the Richard all cleaned up.

kelly didnt seem to happy w/sue even AFTER they shook hands.

I guess I'll be hooked for the Outback show.

-- consumer (, August 24, 2000.

I watched most of the show last night.I watched the three dorks standing on sawed off logs holding on to the immunity totom pole. It supposedly lasted for four hours and thirty minutes. That being the case, why didn't the shadows change? As time passes the shadows either shorten or get longer. What was suposed to take hours, was filmed in minutes. And how about the nifty bamboo raft? Did anyone notice the black plastic flotatiion tanks under the raft?..The human race is regressing when 60 million dumb ass's watch this crap.

-- Dan Newsome (, August 24, 2000.

Good point, Dan, if you are right.

It is, after all, a mental game. Maybe you figured it out.

-- Oxy (, August 24, 2000.

Hey hon! Yea I sent in an application and video but did not make the cut,Damn !!! I coulda been a millionare!!!! : ) There is allways next time.Iv'e been around, working TOO much mostly and getting ready for a trip or two this fall.

Which one out of the 60 million were you? I couldn't tell. Seriously,it's a game,it's a show,it's a game show. This brand of semi- serious frivolity is(to me)a welcome advent in lieu of the same shit we have come to expect in the past. The hell of it is,I am by and large anti-TV to the 9th degree and believe that it breeds a generation of incomptence.

Susan's speech to Rich and Kelly........YIKES!!

Susan: "Um, I have no questions, I just have statements. Rich, you're a very openly arrogant, pompous human bein' but I admire your frankness with it. You have worked hard to get where you're at and you started working hard way before you come to the island. So with my work ethic background, I give that credit to you ... but, on the other hand, your inability to admit your failures without going into a whiny speech makes you a bit of a loser in life. Kelly, the rafting personae queen, you did get stomped on, on national tv by a city boy that never swam, let alone been in the wood or jungle or been on a boat in his life. You sucked on that game. Anyways, I was your friend at the beginning of this. Really thinking that you were a true friend. I was willing to be sittin' there and put you next to me. At that time you were sweeter than me, I'm not a very openly nice person. I'm just frank, forward and tellin' it the way it is. To have you sit there next to me and me lose $900,000 dollars just to stomp on somebody like this [Rich]. But as the game went along and the two tribes merged, you lied to me which showed me what the true person that you are. You're very two-faced, and manipulative to get where you're at anywhere in life, that's why you fail all the time." (Kelly responded, "hm, interesting") "So at that time of the game, I decided just to go out with my alliance to my family and just to hold my dignity and values in check and hope I hadn't lost too many of them and uh, play the game just as long as possible and hang in there as long as possible. But Kelly, go back to a couple times Jeff said to you, 'What goes around comes around,' it's here. You will not get my vote, my vote will go to Richard and I hope that is the one vote that makes you lose the money. If it's not, so be it, I'll shake your hand and I'll go on from here but if I was ever to pass you along in life again and you were laying there dying of thirst, I would not give you a drink of water. I would let the vultures take you and do whatever they want with ya, with no ill regrets. I plead to the jury tonight to think a little bit about the island that we have been on. This island is pretty much full of only two things, snakes and rats and in the end of mother nature we have Richard the snake, who knowingly went after prey and Kelly who turned into the rat that ran around like the rats do on this island, trying to run from the snake. I feel we owe it to the islands spirits that we've come to know to let it be, in the end, the way mother nature intended it to be...for the snake to eat the rat."

Doesn't sound like someone I'd want to bring home to mamma!! Deano

-- Deano (, August 25, 2000.

The show's psychologist -- who evaluated, helped select and then stayed nearby the contestants throughout, even to their last walk down the bridge -- referred to Susan's speech as some sort of Shakespearean soliloquy. He spoke with her before she gave it, and she prepped him about it.

Prior to her speech, she did vow to be the hunter in her presentation, and she stayed true to form. I dare say it had its moments.

-- Oxy (, August 25, 2000.

Dan, you remind me of an old cartoon. A bunch of people milling around at an Upper East side cocktail party. One guy leans over to the other and whispers: "How much TV do you admit to watching?"

It's just a show. And an entertaining show at that. Reality is not what television is all about. (Read: Neil Postman's "Amusing Ourselves to Death") Most people who watch TV, realize this.

Just my 0.02cents worth ;-)
