Season 7 *SPOILERS* : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Alright. I've kept you all in the dark long enough. Happy now Cammie?

spoiler space * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Season premiere - "Indian Summer":

- Opens where they left off in May. Benton accompanies Carter into the rehab center.

- After the first commercial its already September.

- We see Deb in an OB/GYN office. You figure it out.

- We meet Abby's ex-husband in a scene in which Abby would kill him if she thought she could get away with it. I look foward greatly to seeing Abby in a screaming fit.

- Carter returns to Chicago by episode's end. Benton sends a new med student to the airport to fetch him.

Second episode of the season - "Way Too Soon":

- Carter attends an AA meeting and sees Abby there.

- Mark proposes, Elizabeth accepts...blah blah blah, we heard this already.

- Abby deals with a 22 week preemie when no one else from OB is available.

- Kerry and Luka argue over intubation of a patient. This is getting REALLY old.

Third episode of the season - "Mars Attacks":

- Carter returns to work to find much has occured in his absence. He says to Elizabeth: "I go away for a few weeks and you're engaged, Deb's pregnant, and Malucci's blonde."

- The ER treats a variety of very odd patients and many of those need some psychological help. Hence the title.

- The ER is short on nurses and Weaver pages Abby down from OB and she spends the day as "everyone's favorite nurse". (and gets bitten *again* - this time by a 3 year old)

All I have to say about Deb is "WHAT THE F@#*?!" Ming-Na's gotta be pregnant in real life for them to do this.

-- JLS (, August 22, 2000

Thank you JLS! Yes I'm happy. I'll comment more later.

-- Cammie (, August 22, 2000.

Why is carter going to AA and not NA?

Why is Abby back in OB? did she run out of money?

Deb doesn't surprise me that much, ER has done these whiplash-inducing things before for the season premieres, such as Benton and Jeanie in bed together...

Benton sends a med student to fetch Carter? Jeez, how cold...

-- Tracy (, August 22, 2000.

So the cat's out of the bag. What does everyone think about Deb's "condition"? I was hoping Malucci would continue flirting with Deb, but considering his attitude towards Carol last year, that may change now. Who is the father, anyway? Romano? That would be disgusting. I also wonder why Carter would be at an AA meeting instead of NA. Is "Mars Attacks" the Halloween eppy?

-- anne (, August 22, 2000.

Maybe Deb was raped. I remember last season the Star was nattering something about a character being raped. Maybe the writers were just talking about it and then decided to do something about it.

-- Tracy (, August 22, 2000.

What is NA? I've never heard of it. AA is alcohol anonymous isn't it?

-- Andie (, August 22, 2000.

My comments.

Looks like Deb had an interesting summer.

Malucci? blond??

Way to "evolve" Mark and Lizzie's relationship.

And this explains why Abby squealed. She has just risen higher in my esteem.

Andie-NA stands for Narcotics Anonymous. Twelve step program (like AA) for recovering addicts. And I know people with drug and other problems that attend AA meetings. Addiction follows similar patterns, no matter the drug of choice.

-- (, August 22, 2000.

Forgot to thank JLS for the spoilers!! I can't wait for October!

-- S. Trelles (, August 22, 2000.

When did Abby squeal? Anyways, if Ming-Na was pregnant would we have heard about it on "ET" or something? I just watched "ER Confidental" Man was that a depressing episode. I'm glad it's not like that anymore. Well with the exception of AITF it's not like that anymore. So Abby's the new nurse. Cool! I think I'm going to like her better this season because last season she acted exactly like Lucy and that made me mad because noone can ever replace Lucy IMO. Well, looks like Benton is back to his old self. He sends a med student to get Carter. One, that's cold. Noone else can do it? Not even Malucci? Two, I'm going to feel sorry for the med student because I bet he or she won't even know what Carter looks like and what is he or she supposed to say to him. Talk about being put in an akward position. Anyone any to guess as to who the father is. I guess Malucci. We find out that they had a little fling. I forgot who mentioned this but the "Star" magazine did report a possible rape but it was to a nurse, not a doctor. Does anyone else feel like TPTB is trying to make up to the fans for not giving us a D/C wedding by giving us a M/E wedding instead? I do. I'm glad they'll be getting married. The ER needs at least one happy couple. I love the fact that Malucci will have blonde hair. He looks cuter with blonde hair. He resembles what Jonathan Taylor Thomas will look like in about 13 years since they look alike IMO. Thanks again for telling us JLS!

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

I screwed up one of the sentences. Sorry, it's after 11pm here. The sentence should have said "Anyone want to guess as to who the father of Deb's unborn child is?"

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

YOU ARE SO WRONG! I went to the ER set a few weeks ago and none of this was true. even the name of the season premiere is wrong, so it's all untrue. i would hate it if some of that happened -- so soap operaish and I'm sick of these unwed mothers everywhere. in fact, i asked an assistant to one of the producers and he said noah's not coming back until episode 3!!!! so DO NOT BELIEVE THESE SPOILERS!!! write fanfic instead.....

-- Katie (, August 23, 2000.

Then what happens then Katie if you're so sure JLS is wrong?

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

{shrug} Episode titles change all the time. Wouldn't be the first time.

-- JLS (, August 23, 2000.

I dont know if these spoilers are right or not, but for your information, Noah even said himself he's in the first episode, it takes place where they left off. Trust me, they wouldn't leave such a character like Carter out of the show for three episodes. They just wouldn't.

-- Emily (, August 23, 2000.

Um, Noah's not "coming back" until ep 3... "coming back" to the ER that is... why so ANGRY!!!!!!!! about someone's spoilers?

-- L. (, August 23, 2000.

I don't know, these spoilers sound pretty reasonable. I do wish that "JLS"/Epnebelle/whoever would identify where he/she/it is getting the information, though. Let's face it, there is a lot of "rumor" about ER that is often simply just made up because people want to look important, and there are many young fans who are very gullible about everything they hear or read on the Internet and will take it as gospel truth. You'll have to excuse some people for having some healthy skepticism, especially since "JLS" doesn't give us any sense of where this spoiler info is supposedly coming from. I don't see anything in these spoilers that contradicts any other information that's leaked out about the next season, however.

-- Tracy (, August 23, 2000.

I believe JLS. I mean why would someone go through all that trouble to type all that just to have it be wrong? So I believe JLS and will see what happens in October.

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

All I can say is that even though I know that Luka misses his family and Carol/Kate/Tess, I sure hope he did not seek solace with Deb. I just don't think she deserves the man who would be my one and only if he ever had the chance to meet me :-)

-- Linda (, August 23, 2000.

Am I missing something here? I have watched ever "ER" episode except the Christmas ones and some people are saying that Deb being an unwed mother is yet another ER character who has had this story line. I know Carol was one of them. Carla wasn't a main ER character unless you count her anyways but who else has been an unwed mom on the show?

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

i sure hope deb is not really pregnant. It seems so unlike Deb's character, very absurd. If it is really true, it doesn't look like anyone from the main ER cast is the father. Perhaps its that black nurse, Rambo?

-- anna selasky (, August 23, 2000.

LUKA and Deb??!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! If she comes back to be and unwed mother, it will just be too much. Maybe she'll run off to Seattle to be with the father of her child. Oh wait that's been done before......

-- Lisa (, August 23, 2000.

Well, Dave did see Deb in a "little black dress" and drooled on Abby's chart. She's obviously not a nun. It does seem strange though, we had one baby story last year...

And yes, I've also heard/read that Carter will be seen in the first epi. Just not at work.

-- S. Trelles (, August 23, 2000.

All of those storylines seem plausible to me EXCEPT Deb being pregnant?! Please don't let it be! There have been too many single mother's portrayed on this show... and that seems so out of character for her. I have not heard anything about Ming-Na being pregnant in real life either. I just can't believe they would do a storyline like this after Carol last year. And what's with Abby at AA...interesting! I am so looking forward for the new season to start. BTW, I bet Mars Attacks is the HAlloween makes since that it would be right around HAlloween. I have always loved their Halloween epis!

-- amanda (, August 23, 2000.

Okay. Again I asked. Who else besides Carol and Carla have portrayed single moms on the show? By the way, what is wrong with seeing single mothers on tv? There are alot of single moms in this world.

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

JLS has a very good track record of being a considerate and truthful poster on both a.t.e. and this site. If JLS doesn't reveal the source, there might be a good reason why. Just enjoy the spoilers :)

-- Phyl (, August 23, 2000.

Cammie - NOTHING is wrong with single moms. There are a lot of fantastic mothers out there that do it on there own. As the mother of a 1 year old. I cannot imagine doing all of this without my husband, and I wouldn't even want to try. I think that the whole Carol, single mother thing was so weak. None of us really believed that Doug would stay away. Please... I just can't imagine Deb being pregnant!

-- Lisa (, August 23, 2000.

I don't think that people are trying to be rude to single mothers, and I know there are a lot of them out there, but I am kind of getting to wonder if they show any married mothers on TV anymore?

-- Rachel (, August 23, 2000.

Rachel- I can't think of any married moms on drama shows but they have plenty of married moms on sitcoms. I'm sure there are some married moms on drama shows since I don't watch that many drama shows. "ER" and "The practice" are the only drama shows I really watch. I don't get HBO so I don't know about "The Sopranos". Lisa- I can't imangine Deb pregnant eitheir. What has happened to "ER"? It has turned into a mini soap opera IMO.

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

Hi, I just wanted to apologize for seeming doubtful. It's just that between the Star, and about a million other sources, there have tons of spoilerrs, and so many of them are false that I can't help but be a little skeptical. But these seem accurate, and I'm hoping they're true. (A little confusing). My only beef is that Noah wont return until the third eppy, and why would he be at an AA meeting? Oh well. Thank you very much though :)

-- Emily (, August 23, 2000.

A couple of people mentioned Benton sending a med student to get Carter at the airport. I don't think that is bad. I mean, he obviously took the time to find out the day Carter would be home and the flight # and time. At least he thought of him, he could have just let him take a cab home. I don't know but I'm giving him the benefit of doubt that maybe he was stuck in surgery or something he couldn't get out of. How come the others couldn't go???

-- Renee (, August 23, 2000.

There is one reason why we see carter at a AA meeting instead of a NA meeting. I think they wanted to show the audience that Abby was an recovering alcoholic. In reality NA chapters only hold meetings once a week. Since NA and AA are both twelve steps program, the message is very similar. AA probably have more meetings available so Carter decided to attend an meeting on his first day or night after he arives back in Chicago. I don't think they are sending any information that Carter is an alcoholic too. Carter is noit and has not been shown to be one. I'm sure it is common for a recovering addict to attend an AA meeting when NA is not available.

-- Brenda (, August 23, 2000.

Did I miss something again? How do we know Abby's a recovering alcoholic? We know she smokes because she smoked in AR. They never showed any signs of her drinking. Then again we never knew about Carter's drug problem.

-- Cammie (, August 23, 2000.

Ummm... before we write off ER as a "soap opera" based on some plot elements that someone apparently saw reading a script or talking to a friend or something... why not wait for the finished product? Personally, I think having Carter get stabbed and then drug addicted was a hokey soap-opera-ish plot on paper, but I think most people agreed it played out nicely and with good drama in the "flesh and blood" of the writers' scenes and dialogue and the actors acting.

Maybe I just enjoy the show in a different way...

-- Tracy (, August 23, 2000.

Why else would she be at an AA meeting? Also, if she is an recovering alcoholic, we won't see her drinking. I imagine has been recovering since before we saw her on ER.

-- Brenda (, August 24, 2000.

According to Variety this morning, Ming-Na is indeed preggers in real life. I guess they didn't want to film her only from the neck up all season.

-- Ellen (, August 24, 2000.

Ellen- How reliable is Variety magazine? I'm not saying your wrong or anything but I read People magazine every week and they a section where they tell you wo got married, who'd pregnant, and so on. I haven't seen it yet. I haven't gotten this weeks issue yet so it may be in there this week.

-- Cammie (, August 24, 2000.

As entertainment columnists go, you can't get much more reliable than Army Archerd.

-- Ellen (, August 24, 2000.

::gloats at the skeptics:: :-) heehee.

I'm very happy for Ming-Na.

And the Variety is an industry trade magazine and as Ellen said, you don't get more reliable than that. People magazine is actually borderline tabloid if you ask m

-- JLS (, August 24, 2000.

I'm also sure that People doesn't have a designated "pregnant actress beat reporter" who routinely calls TV stars to find out if they've got a bun in the oven, so I wouldn't take People as the be-all end-all source.

-- Ellen (, August 24, 2000.

Well then how do they find out about that and who's getting married and stuff? Ellen, do you mind if I start a new thread about Ming-na? I was thinking that it would be intersting to start a guessing thing to see who the father of Deb's baby will be. By the way who's the father of Ming-Na's baby?

-- Cammie (, August 24, 2000.

Well, if Deb is going to be preggers, it'll be the fourth (web or unwed, doesn't make a difference to me, but the whole preggers thing is a bit "used" in terms of story lines, IMO). Don't forget the whole Cloe/Susan baby drama. Cloe had the kid, Susan took care of the kid, Cloe came back for the kid. So, with Carla and Carol, Deb equals the fourth character to end up preggers.

I've heard from/read many reliable sources that state that Carter is indeed in the season premier as well as subsequent episodes. Carter does not return to WORK until the third episode. NW himself stated that the season premier showed Carter in Atlanta and that several months went by during the course of the episode.

-- L. (, August 24, 2000.

Ming-Na is married to a guy named Eric Zee according to a bio I found on the internet. I still don't like the idea of Deb being pregnant. Back when there was rumor about Alex Kingston being pregnant it was discussed how they could hide a pregnancy under scrubs or whatever and I think they could hide it if they wanted to. BTW, does anyone know how far along she is? I am very happy for Ming-Na, but a little leery of what will happen with Deb. I guess we'll see in a couple of months!

-- amanda (, August 24, 2000.

Amanda your right! Did anyone watch "Beverly Hills 90210"? Well Jeanie Garth, who plays Kelly, was pregnant a few years age and still did the show. Her character wasn't pregnant so they had other cast members in front of her or they showed her above her stomach. It worked. Now maybe "ER" won't do that because Ming-Na will be in maternity leave and how would you explain Deb's absence? Unless she's not due until the end of the season, then they won't have to explain it.

-- Cammie (, August 24, 2000.

I imagine that People finds out these things the same way Army Archerd or any columnist does -- through personal contacts and agents. But I really doubt anyone has any systematic way of obtaining this information. ("Hello, is this Creative Artists Agency? Yeah, do you have any new pregnancies for me this week?") Just because it doesn't appear in People doesn't mean it's not for real... On the other hand, Army Archerd is a well-known and very respected Hollywood entertainment columnist who doesn't have a gossipy reputation.

-- Ellen (, August 24, 2000.

I think we should all say a big congratulations to Ming-Na. What great news!

Since it came up again, I'll say it again. AA does have more meetings in most areas than NA (or OA, or Debtors Anonymous) people recovering from addictions other that alcohol will sometimes attend an AA meeting when another meeting isn't available. I know people that do this. You can find an AA meeting happening somewhere in town pretty much at any time during the day or night.

Another thing, families of recovering addicts often attend Al-Anon. I don't know if there are too many groups dedicated to the families of recovering addicts.

-- S. Trelles (, August 24, 2000.

Just an additional comment about who picks Carter up from the airport. Many have stated their disbelief at Benton sending a student, but I'd like to know why the heck his family isn't there to greet him. You would think this would be more of a family concern, but that's just my 2 cents :)

-- Jessica (, August 24, 2000.

Jessica- My sentiments exactly! Did you notice that the only people to visit Carter was his grandma and Lucy's mom? Now his parents won't get him from the airport? That shows me that his parents aren't very good parents IMO. Like I said before that is going to be very akward for the student. I mean what is he supposed to say to Carter? I'm really going to feel sorry for the student.

-- Cammie (, August 24, 2000.

I am thrilled for Ming-Na and for Deb. I have always liked her character, and I am glad she is getting a storyline. I am also looking forward to Carter comming back. I think it is really sad that his family is not there to pick him up. Looking forward to October :-)

-- colleen (, August 24, 2000.

I'm really curious as to see how they're going to show Carter and Benton at the rehab center. I'm sort of upset Malucci wasn't really mentioned. He's my third favorite character. But Im sure they'll do something with him. I mean, he has a LOT of fans.

-- Emily (, August 24, 2000.

Where were these spoilers found? I don't understand why the source cannot be revealed. If it was a credible one, there should be no problem. I know that they are posted for our enjoyment, and I do enjoy reading them, but, I also like to know if what I'm reading is the truth, or if it is a future fanfic plotline.

-- cheese (, August 24, 2000.

There are many reasons why a source can't be revealed, and I'm sure there are good reasons why this one can't. You can choose to believe or not, but I don't think this involves fanfiction.

-- Phyl (, August 24, 2000.

Phyl's right. I believe JLS because noone would go through all that trouble of posting it on different boards just for a fanfiction. If JLS is wrong then I won't believe her again but I choose to believe her until proven otherwise.

-- Cammie (, August 24, 2000.

Cammie- You also admitted to believing Star magazine Phyl and Cammie- JLS's spoilers may very well be true, and I am grateful that she posted them, but I do not understand why she cannot site her source. If she works for ER or someone affiliated with them, then she is sworn to secracy by her colleagues about whatever info she is given, and therefore would not be able to post on a messageboard (even if done under an alias, she would know that it would catch up with her.) For the past few weeks, she kept us guessing about what was happening to Ming-Na's character. How can she be the only person who knows what will happen? I am not saying that she is wrong (in fact, she may be absolutely right), I am just asking why no one else cares where she finds this info. *I did not post this to bash JLS or anyone else, and apologize if I came off sour.

-- cheese (, August 25, 2000.

Comment to Jess- Since when has Carter's family *ever* been there for him? They're quick with the checkbook, but not much else.

General comment about the spoiler. JLS has mentioned being in "the biz" before. The sources she has may not be terribly secret, but if it got out that it was leaking, then the source might dry up. Then we wouldn't get spoilers at all. Then again, there are three or four different script per epi, right? This gives TPTB an opportunity to change it up on us.

However, the big jawdropper, Deb's baby, is probably true, since Ming-Na is in the family way. On such a (usually) fast paced show like ER, it's probably easier to write it into the script than have her hide behind x-ray films, pose her creatively, or fiddle with the camera angles.

I personally take spoilers as a guideline, not as gospel truth, and I take them with a hearty dose of salt.

-- S. Trelles (, August 25, 2000.

True cheese. I have but I also said that I'm not believing the Star magazine again. I mean none of their rumors were right at the end of 6th season. So I decided that there are better sources out there than the Star and have since stopped believing anything they say about ER.

-- Cammie (, August 25, 2000.

Oh and just a quick note to the person (I forgot your name) who said that the name of the 1st eppy is wrong. They have changed the title of eppys before. "Greene with Envy" was originally called "Lawerence of Northwestern". "The Good Fight" was originally called "A Perfetct Match". "Carter's Chioce" was originally called "Revulsion". I can't remember any others as I'm sure ther are others but they may change the name or they may not. For now I'm believing JLS.

-- Cammie (, August 25, 2000.

I know I have replied alot to this thread and I'm really sorry about that. I just wanted to say that if you don't like the idea of Deb being pregnant then write to "ER" and tell them. I'm sure alot of people wrote to them telling them that they better put George in Julianna's final episode. I wouldn't doubt it all if back in the beginning of season 5 alot of people wrote to them regaurding Noah's beard. So who knows. If you write to them about this they may change it. I like the idea of Deb being pregnant but some don't. So all you can do is write to them and tell them you're mad that this is going to happen.

-- Cammie (, August 25, 2000.

I found spoilers for the 4th episode at Mighty Big TV - they claim it comes from a reliable source:

Episode 4 - "Benton Backwords"

In this episode, Luka and Abby are out walking on the waterfront at night (on a date? the spoiler doesn't know for sure) when they get mugged and Luka nearly kills (or kills) their assailant.

-- Lindsay (, August 28, 2000.

All of these spoilers, whether true or not, sound very kind of dramatic, esp. the last one...I thought the whole Carter/Lucy stabbing was great for getting viewers, but now I think they should calm down a bit...and if the Deb thing is true, I think it would be an okay storyline...maybe Carter could be some good support, if it does so happen that she is a single mom...or maybe Mallucchi and Deb can get married alongside Mark and Elizabeth! I'm not sure whether Mark and Elizabeth are the most exciting couple, but unlike most shows, I think them being married coudl add to the show, instead of make it less exciting. Benton had better not send a med student to get him, I don't believe that. I guess he could get stuck in the middle of something, but gosh, send Deb or Mark or Dave or Kerry instead. I hope there's a Carter party. Anyways, honestly, at first I really thought that this thread was a joke of what "could happen". We'll see, I am awaiting October. It really wasn't as long to wait as I thought.

-- Elaine (, August 28, 2000.

Elaine, just one little problem about the party. Remember the last one? I doubt Carter will feel comfortable with a party in the ER right now. In fact I wouldn't doubt it if that's no longer allowed. OT- there's been alot of posts on this thread, huh?

-- Cammie (, August 28, 2000.

I can't believe Abby made it to being a nurse - I don't think there was a single episode last season when she didn't bungle whatever she was doing. I mean, perhaps Kerry was sympathetic or liked her or whatever but surely being so 'professional' she couldn't allow someone who's made so many mistakes in the ER.

I would love Deb to be pregnant by Rocket Romano, I really would - think how hilarious that would be and how ugly the baby would be. It would be a bit disgusitng though - maybe Deb was feeling lonely and went to a sperm bank. Also I don't think it's fair to complain to TPTB about 'another single mothe rplot' - though I bored of the idea myself it's not really under their control which of their actresses gets pregnant - or is it in the contract? I shouldn't think so.

Also, I wonder if Romano will be able to congratulate Mark without some nasty little comment - he still fancies Lizzie. I hope MArk and Lizzie get married quickly and don't spend the whole series being engaged and having arguments and breaking it off and having a lovey dovey make up cos that just doens't happen in real life - only in soaps.

-- Juliet (, August 29, 2000.

Well, for lack of anything better to do today, I'm participating in the mass hysteria known as Pre-Season Hearsay and Speculations Galore! My little thought for the moment: Maybe Deb's not going to be a single mom. Who's to say she didn't elope with Rambo the Supernurse over the summer? It's just as plausible as any of the other ideas I've been reading lately... :)

-- Cecelia (, August 29, 2000.

Just a little comment. Up there, when someone was talking about hiding a pregnancy under scrubs; I read somewhere one time that the actress that played Abby Keaton in Season 3 was pregnant at the time. You couldn't really tell that, though, could you? Just thought I'd mention that. Isn't it amazing what wonders TV can work????

-- catherine (, August 29, 2000.

Cecelia- that's the first new idea I've heard of. Her enloping with Frank the nurse. Hey it could happen.

-- Cammie (, August 29, 2000.

Just wanted to let you know that there are pictures from the Emmy's out there with Ming-Na in them. She is very pregnant!!
