Hi,

I'd like to invite all of you to contribute to a new form on the Usenet dial: Catholicism -- Uncensored.

The forum was started in response to my being banned on the "Catholics" board for having expressed ideas that ran counter to the conservative Catholic teaching.

I have read some interesting essays here about Roman Catholicism, particularly in relation to the Church. If anyone here posts interesting essays related to Roman Catholic teachings, or tangential essays of interest to Catholics, such as those involving abortion, reproductive rights, euthanasia, birth control, or capital punishment, please cross-post them to my forum as well so others may see it.

I would like to invite all people of all faiths to contribute to the Catholicism -- Uncensored board. People who are "recovering" Catholics, or those who are lapsed and need a place to call home, are particularly welcome, as is everyone else.

Thanks.

Hey, now you're talkin! I'm a "reco-catho" or a "re-cat" (recovering catholic?) and I've got a lot of things to bitch about. See you soon Freddy, you're a pretty "sharpe" guy! Har har har har

Has anyone started an uncensored forum yet for little old ladies who are into crocheting? I really enjoy discussing this hobby with other ladies, but I like to cuss up a storm whenever I talk about it.

-- Old Twit (ouch!@goddamm.needles!), August 21, 2000.

Thanks for the link Frederick. Are over-it and recovered Baptists welcome too? Although I didn't give in to being *saved,* but chose to take my chances swimming and screaming in "the everlasting, molten lake of hellfire," I still had many, long years of indoctrination from which to recover. I have a close friend who is a lapsed Catholic and another who has rejected her Fundy religion, and they will love this site.

Old Twit, I'm a little old lady too, but I don't believe I've seen a forum on crocheting. However, I'm quite sure that attempting to learn this tricky craft when I was about 12, contributed to my creative skill in cussing--I'm somewhat of a professional. It's amazing what misery one little strand of thread can cause.

gilda, out of curiousity, which kind of Baptist were you?

-- Butt Nugget (catsbutt@umailme.com), August 21, 2000.

I haven't seen a forum on crocheting either, but if you like, you can start a new thread about it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA LOL! LOL! LOL!

I think it's too early in the morning for me.

"Sister Mary Elephant" - LOL! Sounds like we've got a lot in common SME. You didn't happen to attend St Joseph's Elementary as a kid did ya?

Frederick,

They BANNED you? I didn't know they did that. Are you sure you're banned from posting there?

Frank

-- Someone (ChimingIn@twocensts.cam), August 21, 2000.

Frank,

I was banned from this board because I posted an essay from "Conscience" magazine about the Catholic Church's policies on birth control and reproductive rights. They took down the essay citing bogus "copyright" issues and told me that if I posted again they would file a complaint with my server.

The "moderator" of that board is like the censors of the old Timebomb board -- they erase ideas they don't like. It's like they have their own little "Index" going there.

So I took a tip from this board and started my own forum -- uncensored, where anyone can post. The essay they banned is on my new forum, for all to read freely.

PS -- thanks to some of you for visiting and contributing already.

I tried responding but my responses to go the top of all of yours. Does anyone know why that is? I would rather that my responses go to the bottom of the board, as they do here.

If your email address is listed as the "owner" of the forum, then the responses will always go to the top. It's a feature. The way to get around it is to change your email address slightly when you post, such as "frederick_sharpe@excite.com."

Thank you, hmmm.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that if you had to have an UNCENSORED board about anything, Catholicism would be it. The internet has the potential power to bring down all untruths propagated by religions of all stripes.

careful who you invite, Frederick. There is a guy known as y2kpro around here who is a professional forum killer. He got the original Timebomb forum (with help from his friends), he almost got this one, he killed Diane Squires forum back in June, and even took out an Olympic forum as well! The guy is real jackass.

watch out for those spam/DOS attacks!

-- Seen it Happen (yep@yes.I.did), August 22, 2000.

There's still that minor detail of having absolutely no evidence that Y2KPro brought down any of these forums. We discussed that already in this thread.

-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), August 22, 2000.

I, who know, no-one, and I, who have nothing, would love nothing better than to bring a truth to this thread.
