OTTAWA, Aug 16, 2000 (CNW via COMTEX) -- Bell Canada technicians are working around the clock to restore service to customers in the area of Rideau and Friel streets in downtown Ottawa, after construction in the area resulted in damage to underground telephone cables.

Bell Canada technicians are on location working to restore service to the area as quickly as possible.

Emergency service agencies are not impacted by the disruption.

While service is being restored, Bell Canada is taking steps to minimize the impact of the service disruption on its customers. These include installing public telephones in the area.
