Main Break Cuts Water To Residents

Several homes along 1300 South in Salt Lake were without water last night after a water main broke underneath the street yesterday afternoon. A valve broke at 1300 South 700 West and spewed a geyser of water down on cars, residents, and workers trying to shut the pipe down. Dennis Holland of Salt Lake Water operations says the pipe was installed nearly 50 years ago and that probably had a lot to do with why it broke.
