Daylab Jr. pictures too dark

greenspun.com : LUSENET : polaroid transfers : One Thread

Hi all,

I bought Polaroid's Daylab jr. some time ago to do image transfers. I tried printing slides onto Polaroid film twice. The first time, I used some very old slides my girl friend's mother had given us. The results were really dark even when we put the knob for the exposure time ("Lighten") as far up as possible. Yesterday, I took brand new slides I had taken. The slides are all crystal clear and bright. Same problem. The prints are very dark. The transfers I did look really bad. Does anybody know what the problem might be?

Thanks, Joerg

Your Daylab is probably defective. I teach Polaroid transfer workshops and sell some Daylab equipment, and every now and then someone gets a machine that prints too dark. I'd exchange it for a new one where you bought it. If that isn't possible, you can call Daylab at 800-235-3233 and ask Steve Pfaff, the President, to replace it for you. You'll need a copy of your sales receipt. Good luck, Kathleen

As as quick fix you could just make two exposures on one polaroid, trying to be very careful not to bump the Daylab... Kirk
