Very nice silhouette. Good deail in the clouds, and interesting action in the foreground. Image quality on the scan could be a lot better; nice of you to keep it under 50k but it doesn't have to be as low as 15k.

This is a compeeling image. The sky looks almost too good to be true. Did you paste it in? Or were you lucky enough to capture this entire scene all at once in the fielf?

This photo was taken at sunrise at Lake Parker State Recreation Area in Lakeland, Florida. I had been watching this nesting pair for quite some time and was able to recognize a few patterns. Every morning the two adult great blue herons would "switch places" guarding the nest and ffeding the lone chick. I was just lucky enough to capture it on film. As for the sky, there was no manipulation. The "clouds" are actually steam eminating from a phosphate mining operation on the opposite side of the lake.

Phot taken with Canon Rebel G and 100-300mm Tamron @ 300. Aperture of f5.6. Shutter speed unrecorded.

Great use of making the steam to look like clouds. Excellent idea.

Very nice. Do you have something like this in a vertical composition? I keep wanting to see more sky above the landing bird; the space to the right seems awfully empty. Excellent timing - this is much more interesting than those "single bird in flight" shots.

Jason-- A very nice shot! To me this image reminds me of the phoenix if the sky was reddish the connection would be too obvious. I personally like the empty space to the right-- it adds tension. If the momma bird came in from the left, instead of right, it would balance the image better producing an upside down triangle between the momma bird, nest, & bright light. However, I wouldn't find that as interesting as the arrangement you have composed. Your image seems to be based on a strong diagonal running from the top right to the lower left. Good work!
