I wish!!! I don't care for the ones in the store either but I don't know of a farmer close to me that has any! And have you seen the price at the store lately?? In SEASON and $5.00 a watermelon! No thanks. This craving will have to take a back seat right now!

Bob! Well, I really do hate to tell y'all this but----we can go buy those BIG raskels at the farms' roadside stands for about a buck each. Thes are the famous Indiana melons and they just cannot be beat! I made a post awhile back bout pap bringin a load back for a big free feed at a little country church down the road from home. As I think about them the price paid then-i think it was a nickle each. This had been 50 yrs ago or so. Now when the season is winding down it's possible to buy those dudes for half dollar when you buy a truck load or even a small trailer load. This won't happen until about the first of Sept. Store bought [shipped in] melons are not worth draggin home! Saw in Wallyworld last week they had a "special" on those little green boat anchors--2 for $9. They were imported from somewhere other than knox county indiana. Matt. 24:44
