Kaiser E-Mail Glitch Highlights Pitfalls Of Placing Personal-Health Data Online

Kaiser Permanente made a mistake and sent private e-mails to the wrong people, some e-mails contained medical answers to some clients' questions. Some said that this will make people more conscious of the problems of using e-mail for these things. Others say that since Kaiser has been a leader in the new use of the technology so it is not a surprise. The program was shut down twenty minutes after the problem started, as soon as it was realized that it occurred. But already 858 e-mails went to 17 members who were not supposed to receive the e-mails.
