Will be flying over this in a few days. I remember the smaller fire year [1988 I think] and it was impressive. If these images say anything, this should be really impressive. Gregor is on the ground there and may get back; but then his email is a sometimes thing.

Yes, that is one spectacular smoke plume over Montana.

I noticed last night that the sun was blood red as it set - it was absolutely beautiful. At the time I wondered if it was from all the smoke in that atmosphere from those western fires - this picture confirms it for me. :-)

BTW, I hope you don't experience any turbulence flying over that stuff, Z... ;-)
