coolvcd.com: possible vcd site fraud!!!!!!!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

A week or so ago i placed an order from COOLVCD.COM they had some out of print vcds that noone else had so never using them before i thought id give them a try......well when i placed this order i used a credit card that i hadnt used in about a year or so....when i placed my order at the site it said secure...got all the signs that i was placing the order secure...well and this could be a coincidence, but my credit card was compromised....so not only was COOLVCD possibly responsible for me having my info stolen but when i contacted them to see when my order was shipped out to make sure they charged me before i had to cancel the card....there was no response...so i mailed them again and again!!!!! no answer...this makes me think that COOLVCD is a scam so beware....all of my normal business(with in print vcd titles) will stay with abs music.com and videocds.com

www.allvcd.com will be where i do ALL my future business....in case some of you out theere dont know this is the company owned by former worker at www.videocds.com(also a good place to shop) back when he worked at videocds.com i would write him and get immediate responses to all my questions...he also got me every title i ever wanted...in fact if you look at(for instance) the video selections at most vcd sites they are a copy from videocds,com....so yes i would highly suggest shopping at allvcd.com!!!!!

Dear Tim J.P,

This is Elaine Koay from CoolVCD.com. I apologise for not checking out this forum earlier for your grouses. If it is not too late I'll attend to it now... in a public forum of course. You placed your order #1348 on the 28 July 00 for Scooby Doo and Aladdin, Aladdin being THE supposedly Out Of Print movie. We had the copy available HOWEVER your credit card was not accepted (how could it be compromised then?) We then emailed you repeatedly informing you of the problem BUT your mailing address were unreachable, e.g like a fake email address. Please advise as to HOW CoolVCD were to help you IF information provided was not usable?

Please help CoolVCD or any online retailers help you by providing CORRECT information when submitting your order and we shall serve you to the best of our ability.

By the way, Aladdin is out of stock now!

Yours sincerely, Elaine Koay www.coolvcd.com

elaine, wow!!!! thank you for responding to my problem in such a timely matter , your company should be commended on its fast service!!!!!!!! maybe if my credit card was not compromised and my order had gone thru i could be watching my movies by new year 2001!!!!!! in my many letters to you i asked for clarification and was ignored...in this posting i said i thought that the card being compromised MIGHT have something to do with your company, but with the false info you gave i.e. bad credit card, the many attempts you made to informe me(what a lie) ect....i now know you DID IN FACT HAVE EVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT....so thank you so much for this clarification you have a good day now .....

Just a thought as a retailer myself. If you take an order over the internet, errors do occur. At least 1 out of ten customers mistype something in an order. "understandable" If there is an error, try and contact them. 1st by email. (You stated they had a fake email?) Ok, try and call them by phone. (This should always be a required field in any order process.) If that doesn't work, they WILL be contacting you. They are trying to buy a service/product you have. Does your order system send a conformation to the email they provided? (minus the cc number?) This in itself will solve 99% of problems.

And last but not least! Never attack a customer in a public forum no matter how much shit they say! Just ask them to please contact you as there was an error in their order, and you are happy to work things out if they just contact you. Never display all their order information in a Public Forum. This information WAS ONLY to be between YOU and THEM. I would have considered it to be a personal privacy issue and would have taken it further in legal action. We all just want to get along!
