Need help with Dazzel

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Just purchased Dazzel (USB Special Edition). Having no problems recording Hi 8mm into Dazzel but when it's time to burn VCD not sure what or how to do it.

This is what i'm using. Compaq Presario 733Mhz 128ram 8x8x32x cd-r,cdwr Dazzel USB Special Edition Easy CD Creator 4 (ADAPTEC)

Using template Video CD in Dazzel the result is Clip.mpg using Media Player the video and audio is perfect.

How do i create a Video CD that can be played in a JVC XV-523 DVD player.

I can't find away in Dazzel to create a Video CD ?

I have not used Easy CD Creator for a long time, but I am sure when you fire it up and make a new project, there are options to create cd-rom, audio cd, Video CD, etc.. Just choose Video CD, and then drag and drop your MPEG file into it. But make sure your Dazzle capture MPEG which is VideoCD compliant. I have such option in Snazzi. DOn't know much about Dazzle. Read the manual, it should tell you all the steps.

Have fun.

Rusman,

Thanks for the response.

Now that I've done more research and completely read the book, there is no way to burn a Video CD using Dazzel(special edition). It does come with Easy CD Creator that allows you to copy CD's. The special edition is more for creating screen savers, web publishing and video e-mail. It does create a mpeg file, then I could purchased another package(Videopack4, Easy CD Creator Deluxe, etc...) to burn video CD's. I would rather have an all inclusive package.

Taking it back, thank God I purchased it at Office Depot(they accept opened returns).

Do you recommend Snazzi.

thats really odd as i have the adptec easy cd 4 an.0 and mine has the video cd burn option? Then again yours might not be atruly full version, you could always dl an upgrade though wich might give it to you.

Doug,

You're correct, there are two versions of Adaptec(standard and deluxe). According to the Adaptec web site the standard comes bundled with other software purchases and the deluxe is purchased as a package.

Thanks for your response.

EZ CD Creator is the software that I use the most for Video CD creating. It allows for creating menus and I have never had any problems with it. I have seen it advertised for under $80.00. Another good Video CD creater is NTI which can be purchase/downloaded over the internet. I got mine for $39.00. If you have taken the Dazzle back(I Bought mine at Best Buy and promptly returned it as well) consider buying The Broadway Pro 4.0. They are advertising the 5.0 now that encodes to MPEG2 for DVD, or you might try the MPEGATOR. They will cost you around $600 to $700

All well and good and fine and you just might get away with making a legit VCD. Now when you are ready to try it I can see the look of dismay on your face when you find out that your trusty JVC DVD set- top resolutely refuses to recognize your VCD. So even though the juice from this subject is all but squeezed out it's nice to resurrect it once in a while and make you an anti-JVC person. Really, I hope fireants crawl on their balls and sting them hard, people at Sony, JVC, Panasonic, Kenwood, RCA, etc, who like to have fun by deliberately hobbling their DVD players such that they will not reliably read CD-R/CD-RW. As if they haven't done enough with the region coding drama.

Thanks for the responses, I decided to keep dazzel(special Edition) and purchase the Easy CD Creator 4 Deluxe version to burn the VCD. I have created many VCD's now and every one has worked with no problems playing in my JVC DVD player. The JVC XV-523 is a great player, I would recommend it.

I would like to know if WinOnCD also burns VCD. Thanks

-- Yusuf Santally (Santally@t-online.de), November 19, 2000.

Yusuf,

Yes, I have used WinOnCD starting from 3.0 and it has option to create VCD.

BTW, just a suggestion. You can open a new thread of discussion, rather than using this one. One disadvantage of this board is that no topic can be closed, and if anyone replies to the same thread, the old posters will get the insertion message as well. So have a look at the last post date (which is many months back), and if it is quite dated, you can just open a new thread or send e-mail directly to the person you wanted to clarify things about.

Cheers,

Rusman

I am looking for something like Dazzel to create VCD's, but I would like to be able to hookup my VCR to my PC and use it as input to crrate a VCD. Can anyone HELP me with what I need to input my VCR?? Thanks, Doug

You can capture from VCR to PC using an ATI card or a USBVideo II device, and both methods has an Audio, Video, SVideo inputs, ...have fun.
