Source of rings for those metric "canning" jars

I have bought a bunch of those 1/2, 1 and two liter food storage jars (the kind with rubber "canning" rings and wire bale handles)at yard sales and such. They are terrific for dry food storage--stuff like beans and brown sugar and tea bags--and look good on the counter. Problem was, occassionally I found one with a dry-rotted rubber seal. I cut a "seal" out of a piece of felted wool, but couldn't find the real replacement seals. I never thought of looking at our co-op; a few weeks ago, I saw a package of 6 seals for $6.59. Couldn't buy them just then, but I thought on them and figured that while the price was steep, making my favorite jars airtight was worth it, since you used them for years.

So imagine my delight when I found the seals, the next week, on the clearance shelf, for $1.00 a package! They only had two packs, so I bought them both. They have an address on them, so if anyone else has the same problem, you know where to go:

Durrand International Millville, New Jersey 08332

These fit Triomphe and Luminarc canning jars, and I suppose you could use them for canning, tho I would be concerned about the canning time, as the sizes are "off" from the US sizes. Seems like I remember Carla Emery saying something about European jars. But I like them for dry goods storage!

Up here in Canada *G*, we are all metric. Our canning jars are all litres etc. If you want proper lids, you can email me and I can snail mail you some. I would be nervous also, canning with off sizes.
